I hope you're all doing well and have had a great week.
Yesterday, we started the second round of polish. Chestnut has been retouching some of her artworks which became blurry during the posing process. When dealing with longer dialogues, I sometimes try to vary things and keep the player more engaged by showing a close-up view of the speaking character, and the result is that some of the sprites (and cutscenes, too) have become a little too blurry in the final outcome. This week, Chestnut wants to fix the worst of those cases by drawing larger versions of those artworks.
As for me, I have plenty more fixes to do, mostly issues I caused (or noticed but left for later) during the first round of polish. I'm two days behind my planned schedule -- I wanted to finish the first round by the end of Monday, but it took until Wednesday. It's nothing major, though, and hopefully I'll catch up. For those interested, here's a list of some of what I still need to work on and finish by next month this time:
Fixing and improving posing/writing issues (this is the bulk of my work and I’ve already started on it)
Editing the text to remove unnecessary dialogue to keep things more engaging (I've already started on this one as well)
Adding more optional convos with different characters we meet or interact with in 0.7 (especially dialogues with Sev)
Going through the whole game (and not just 0.7's content) again to ensure this update hasn't messed up other stories. I did this a while back, and I've made a lot of changes since.
Optimizing the more resource-heavy scenes (sexy stuff) to improve their performance.
Improving the sound (this has been pending for a while, and Chestnut will help me with it)
Finalizing the crystal ball.
Testing and more testing. Every time we're changing things, there's a chance of introducing more bugs, issues, or inconsistencies, so we're going to need a few days of testing after everything is 'done'.
I won't deny that I have had moments of regret this past week about having given a release date (the last time we did it, it nearly burned us out), but I have a better feeling about this one, mostly excitement actually, and with a bit of luck all will go well, and we'll have a good release that you enjoy.
