Weekly report 232

Hi everybody.

Happy Friday! I hope you've all had a great week. There are a couple of topics we want to discuss in this report:

The work:

The second phase of polish is going well overall. I'm two days behind where I want to be, but I'm pretty sure I can catch up later. From the to-do list I posted in the last report, I’m still at the editing and polishing stage for the writing and posing. I'm giving myself until the end of the month to finish this part. Chestnut, too, has some tasks that need to be polished and retouched and once she’s done (her tasks are fewer than mine so it'll definitely be before me), she’ll go back to babysitting full-time so I can have the entire day to work again.

I mentioned in last week's report that I sometimes regretted announcing a deadline, and, first, thank you to all of you who commented and showed us support -- it means a great deal. Second, that's just me overthinking and being overly worried about things. In fact, given how long this update has taken and we've had challenges at every stage, I'm actually happy that there's a deadline and that it looks like this year we'll finally have a proper Christmas.

Avatars:

Weekly reminder: if you've been a Best Friend or a Close Friend tier patron, you can have your chosen name and avatar (plus a short text, if you're a Best Friend supporter) displayed in the game. Make your avatar here, and send us a message and we'll include it in the 0.7 release.

Apple's fees:

Starting this November, Apple is requiring Patreon to use its iOS in-app purchasing system, which means anyone using the Patreon app on an iOS device will be charged an additional 30%. This only affects those using the app and if you subscribe via a web browser, there won’t be any extra charge. If you joined us through the Patreon app on an iOS device, please unsubscribe before November 2024 and resub using a browser or a non-iOS device.

You can read more about this fee here and here.

Steam:

Sometime before the end of this month, I want to create a Steam page for What a Legend. This way, we can add a link to it in the next version of the game. A few points:

That's all.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Cheers

Steam is a great idea! Easier to download when the game gets bigger in size and a longer reach. I do think a pay once solution is more user friendly but perhaps for your sake too... I can only imagine that making and maintaining several different versions of the game depending on what dlc/seasons the player owns or has installed would be quite the hazzle. From just quickly looking at the "Sexual content" section on steam I'd say somewhere between 15-25€ seems to be the norm for games with effort put into it (and complete!). One could also put it on sale from time to time. I do know that people are willing to pay for smut even if it's easily available for free.

Hello MagicNuts! I’m just thinking aloud, so please don’t judge me! 😊 0.7 Gomira’s story 0.8 Holly’s Story 0.9 Madeline’s story and continuation of main story 0.10 : epic and super fun conclusion of main plot with maybe another girl story like Simmone. So that 0.10 would be equivalent of 1.0, Yay! After that, we could have the other stories with the other girls, new fun adventures and discoveries, and lots of cool things. Lots of resting too! That would also be cool for the Steam thing!… Sorry not sorry for the loud thinking! 😊😊 Kind regards, 😊😊😊

Finally, this game will have its own page on Steam, I'm very happy with this news. I have two opinions: First, I don't think Patreon will kick you out of their platform, believe me. I've seen all kinds of shitty projects, sorry, and they were all scams, your game, which is also a very good game and a very good and serious project. I'm convinced that you won't have any problems. And second, I'm more of a What a Legend fan, for example: 0.8 when it comes out is one thing, 0.9 another and so on. It's my humble opinion, there will be people who like something else and it's very respectable. Anyway, I don't want to go on any longer because I don't want to bore you. It makes me very, very happy to know that this great game will be released on Steam.
