The Repurposing Center (alpha) 0.5.26(a)

Hey everyone, and welcome to a new alpha build. Wanted to get this out over the weekend, then the Skills/Traits page rework took about 4 more days than I'd intended. Still, I wanted to get back into the habit of regular Alpha builds in between the core builds, so here we are.

This a bit of an unusual build, as it concentrates almost exclusively on UI changes, though hopefully it'll be something you'll all find handy. All the side-bar menu pages have been turned into on-page pop-up windows, with a new design. In particular, the Quests page, Hints/Tips page, and Skills/Traits page have all seen significant overhauls, including full quest and endings guides, and just much nicer and more easily readable interfaces. Finally, I've put some code in the game so that little notification pop-ups occur when you get a new item.

The main content is; Side Menu Pop-up Windows, Quest Log Overhaul, Hints/Tips Overhaul, Skills/Traits Overhaul, Item Gain Notifications.

1/ Side Menu Pop-up Windows - All the side menu options are now in pop-up windows, with a new UI design. This should keep everything looking somewhat similar in design, and makes it much easier for me to add or change new info pages for the future. I'm particularly happy with my top button bar design for separating out the information into smaller categories.

2/ Quest Log Overhaul - The quest log now has four sections; Active Quests, Finished Quests, Tasks, Rules. Some of these will become more important in the future, as Tasks and Rules are more connected with my plans for Trainer content and the Punishment System overhaul. Still, the list of quests is much neater and more legible, and easier for me to add to in the future too.

3/ Hints/Tips Overhaul - The Hints/Tips page has been separated into the main hints information, an endings guide, a quest guide, and the player's statistics (used to be on the quest page and that didn't make much sense). The Hints/Tips page is largely the same, though now has a sidebar for quick navigation. Meanwhile, the endings guide and quests guide are new, giving you in-game the complete information about every ending and quest in the game.

4/ Skills/Traits Overhaul - The Skills/Traits page overhaul is far more cosmetic in nature than the others. The skills section has been redone so that you can quickly and easily see what your level in all the skills are, with a guide explaining what skill levels mean, and a quick glossary to explain what the skills are about. The Traits page, meanwhile, has been reorganised into categories, so the trait groupings should feel a little more logical (I'm also contemplating adding some sort of navigation system to it).

5/ Item Gain Notifications - Quite simply, when you receive a new item, a small notification popup will appear in the top right corner of your screen for a few seconds. This just ended up being a way easier way of handling the planned item gain notifications than how I handled exp notifications, given how many instances of gaining items are in the game.
(There is a slight issue, that these notifications will overlap and so you'll only be able to see one if you gain multiple items at the same time)

Other additions included; A couple of small bug fixes and tweaks.

Hope you have fun :)

Hi Jay ^_^ Sorry for the slow response. There are some more standard beds planned (and I have the artwork for them ready), I'm just waiting on something still from my artist before I do them all as one big batch. Beds are a pain to code because of the differing number of spaces in them and the fact that they can be added/removed, so doing them all at once is most preferable.

Is there a way to have 2 standard beds in the apartment? I know you can add themed beds but I want to have my pc in a standard bed and not have to share with roommates. I know it's probably a strange thing to want lol

Yeah, it has been a long while since they were part of my routine. It's generally kind of a lot of effort to throw one together, so I slowly stopped being able to fit them in. However, after re-evaluating my development routines, and deciding to aim for fortnightly builds, putting them out in-between started to feel a bit more do-able (as long as I don't worry about doing a full write-up for each one). Fingers crossed I can keep up with the good habits and start doing them regularly again ^_^

Ooh, an actual Alpha build. We haven't had one of those since before the pandemic. This should be interesting.
