Hi everybody.
I hope you're feeling well and had a great week. Our week was mostly dedicated to meeting self-imposed deadlines and finishing up/preparing sprites for the posing. Here's a more detailed summary of the work:
Chestnut:
She focused primarily on doing all facial expressions and sprite variations for an important character who will be introduced in 0.8. The character in question is quite large (bigger than Kull the Boner King in 0.7), which means his sprite needs a lot of detail. I've been posing scenes featuring this new character using a placeholder (early design), but I'm not sure if it works, so Chestnut has been working hard to finish it up so that we can add it to the game and evaluate the results (I did a quick test before starting this report and I think he looks great!)
Pistachio:
I finished my last week's goal on Wednesday and then spent the past two days replacing a lot of the placeholder art (i.e., cutscenes, backgrounds, and sprites) with the actual artwork Chestnut had created. I found a bunch of bugs and issues in the process, and fixing them has been my goal. I cannot add some of these artworks without first fixing how they're shown in the game. For example, in an earlier version, I had shown only one placeholder background image, but I later coded it differently and allowed the player to go there at different times of the day, and the background had to change to reflect that.
Next week's plan:
There are still more completed artworks that I plan to replace. I'll do that tomorrow, and then I want to build distributions and send the game to Chestnut to play this section of it while I pose the second part of the first half of Holly's quest.
Chestnut will need to do a few important hands for Holly, and then she'll move to drawing/finishing cutscenes.
