🍿 The Official 'Superhero Odyssey' Timeline! ✨

Here it is! My official Superhero Odyssey timeline 🦸🏻✨

This will be the roadmap I'm following for my journey through the MCU, DCU, X-Men, and beyond going forward. It should carry us through until around the end of November-ish. Once we reach that point, I'll post a brand-new timeline that will include more Superman, Batman, and MCU goodness. I couldn't resist popping in and out of the MCU timeline while we branch out a bit more into the superhero world, so expect me to keep weaving them in where I can!

If you notice anything that looks out of order, or if something feels like it doesn't quite fit, please let me know! This timeline is meant to be fun, flexible, and collaborative since we are always on this journey together! My awesome mod, Maz, and I have been working on this behind the scenes for months, going through spreadsheets and making sure the journey feels like an epic adventure while still sticking to the core of each franchise!

I hope you're all as excited as I am for what's ahead! If you have suggestions for future timelines, I'd love to hear them as always. Thank you for joining me on this odyssey! It means the world that we get to experience these stories together 🔥

💖 See you in the next one!

It breaks my heart that Kali isn't going to meet Matt before No Way Home.

Giancarlo Gasparin

Has she watched Werewolf by Night? That is a nice one-off Marvel special for Halloween.

Brian Leonard

Should we wait for Across the Spider-Verse until after Spider-Man No Way Home?

Brian Leonard

Maybe also have a look into. What If...? Marvel animated anthology series. I think you will be missing out if you skip that one.

Noblegut

Might I suggest Agatha All Along for the Halloween season? Perfect Halloween TV show.

Lawrence Gibson

LOL he definitely deserves gifts sent his way!

Kali Wali

I'm glad you're still here and hanging in there! I feel like lately I've had a few life wrenches thrown my way so I understand how hard it can be to get out of it.. Hopefully you can still find some time to relax and enjoy my journey here! 💖

Kali Wali

Thank you for the order of these shows! I can't guarantee I'll get to them all anytime soon. And some maybe just on my own time, but I am very interested in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage!

Kali Wali

Actually a really good order

Seth

Your list is great, but I would recommend starting with the so-called Defenders Saga. It consists of the series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and Punisher. Here is the order: Daredevil S1 Jessica Jones S1 Daredevil S2 Luke Cage S1 Iron Fist S1 Defenders S1 Punisher S1 Jessica Jones S2 Luke Cage S2 Iron Fist S2 Daredevil S3 Punisher S2 Jessica Jones S3 However, I can absolutely understand if you only watch Daredevil Season 1. Keep in mind, though, that these series will become relevant later in the MCU.

David Fürstenberg

As much as I love the Hawkeye series and can't wait for her to watch it, I agree with you. She really should watch at least Daredevil Season 1 before watching Hawkeye.

David Fürstenberg

Would like to echo that I'm someone who is primarily here because of her superhero content, so there's an audience for both, and that's why she does both. I don't think she's "leaving anybody behind."

TheTriibalChief

Looking forward to your journey through these. Lots of opinions and some may be on point 🤷‍♂️ but as a man of the older generation, I am so done eith superman and batman. They have been done so many times in my lifetime that it's overdone. Younger generations sell appreciate them more I know because they weren't exposed to them as much. I'm sure you'll enjoy them but I will be out on those, sorry ☺️ Also just wanted to comment so you didn't think I went away. Just haven't been very vocal since the end of last year and beginning of this year. Been very emotional. Even with work. Love what you do and your reaction and outlook on everything I've watched with you. Just stay YOU!!!!!

Paul T

Looks like fun, can't wait :) So Maz is helping you with picking movies... What was your throne account again Maz? :p

McShades

Just so you don't start to think that we've left or anything--people who are interested in the diversity of other stuff you do, but have zero interest in all but a small bit of superhero content are still around! Not saying don't do this! Just confirming that there are people here for the other stuff.

Chris

Thunderbolts would be really, really good after Hawkeye, good movie that was a whose box office results fell victim of the poor expectations set by this era of the MCU in general and it's predecessor Brave New World in particular. I think you'd really like it, does have one small spoiler to Brave New World but worth it. Apocalypse is not the best X-Men movie but I think it's worth at least one watch. Dark Phoenix's reception put an end to a generation of X-Men movies . I won't say don't watch but definitely very optional. Editing here to second the comment recommending Moon Knight, which is really good series from the MCU's peak TV series era and is really independent of the timeline can really be put anywhere. Also Loki season 2 which is also very independent of the timeline after season 1.

Sythurizm

YESSSS!!!! Another Venom movies fan. 😭😭 Cause same with all of those.

Daniel Morgan

Ummm . . . wow. Quite a bold plan. Maybe not all of this stuff will tick the boxes for you but probably most will since you tend to lean toward positivity! Shout out to your “amazing” mod (jealous! haha) since he probably saved you some headaches - which you don’t need during allergy season! Makes me happy finally seeing Multiverse of Madness on the schedule.

Richard

Ik there's ALOT of debatable comments here, especially cause many don't like the Venom films (despite being the highest rated Sony Spider Villain films) and some say the animated films are standalone films, which is only MOSTLY true except for a few scenes in part 2. But since I don't judge films as much as others and is here to help you out simply by the story line-up, and if you intend on watching each, here's the proper story line-up, by release order: 0. Daredevil and/or Hawkeye (isn't part of the Spider-Verse but required by fans and 'Hawkeye' takes place around the same time as No Way Home but does connect to Daredevil) 1. Venom (post credits/sneak peak leading to:) 2. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (introduces the Spider-Verse concept) 3. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (connects to and updates you on:) 4. Spider-Man: No Way Home (connects to the multiverse) 5: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (goes deeper into the Spider-Verse and connects to past films) (ENTIRELY optional) 6. Venom: The Last Dance (finale of the Venom films) Additionally, the movie Morbius post credits scene (taking place after No Way Home) is Sony's failed attempt at connecting to the Spider-Verse, as it leaves us with a MASSIVE plot hole, so, it would never be recommended to watch.

Daniel Morgan

One thing I will say - since the events of the Hawkeye series are never referenced in anything else on here (and thus doesn't need to be watched before any of them), I would highly recommend (if possible) putting it off until you've seen at least Season 1 of Daredevil. Mainly because I feel some of the best things in Season 1 would be weakened by seeing certain things in Hawkeye first.

Malcolm Ferguson

Noice looking forward to 7 onwards

Greg

Kali, I have already made a comment that I think the road map is solid but I agree with the comments that you should really start watching Daredevil Season 1 before you start watching Hawkeye. There are somethings in the Hawkeye series that reference DD and it may confuse you a bit.

Lastboyscout73 (John)

Deadpool 2 looks properly placed, and the first Deadpool was released prior to X-Men: Apocalypse, so that's where that Deadpool 1 should go. I concur with others here that New Mutants can probably go, since it's been dropped from future plans, although I personally liked Eternals, but I acknowledge I'm in a minority there, although yes, it does seem to be slowly aging a bit better with newer audiences. It hasn't been dropped from the future of the MCU, and I was surprised more people didn't when it first came out. it's a quieter, more pensive film, but for me, that was a plus. It's also the first MCU property based on a comic Stan Lee wasn't involved in. It (the comic) was entirely written and illustrated by Jack Kirby, the artist who worked alongside Stan Lee in the early days of Marvel comics. Lee and Kirby were sort of the Lennon & McCartney of Marvel, and I think the Eternals film is grossly underrated. Also, there's the Moon Knight TV show that was released in between No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness. It's almost entirely stand-alone, so you don't really need to do it, but is really, really good, so I recommend including it, anyway. Moon Knight is my favorite post-WandaVision MCU show, and I don't think I'm alone in saying that. I concur with several others that Jessica Jones is super good (based on the Alias comic series, which I have in my collection), and she's confirmed to return. It might be the best Marvel TV series, alongside Daredevil and WandaVision. I'd understand the decision to leave it out if it seems like one too many things; it's so good, though! Speaking of TV shows, another great show (pre-Disney) I wish could get done more is Agent Carter, at least Season 1. It follows Peggy Carter in the '40s, after the events of Captain America 1, so it's a period piece, but the writing, acting and production design are top-notch; I'm an admitted sucker for period pieces. You don't need to do it, but even just on your own time, if you can, because it's that good, in my opinion. And yes, Daredevil S1 should go before Hawkeye, since there are tie-ins. It was one of the pre-Disney Marvel shows, and it was one of the first post-Disney MCU releases to use anything from those shows. And for DC, I humbly suggest watching the original Superman from 1978 with Christopher Reeve and directed by Richard Donner (Goonies, Lethal Weapon, etc.), as well as its sequel, before anything else. It was the first proper big-budget Hollywood superhero film of any kind, and broke ground for the genre in every way. It is, of course, not part of the DCEU, but it is where it all began for everything for superheroes in film proper, and is the gold standard for the character, as well as setting the bar for what a superhero film could and should be. Cheers!

Andy Jordan

Many others have already chimed in, so I'll just say: 😲

Phil Stubblefield

Daredevil S1 before Hawkeye is only thing I would add. Eternals is beautifully shot and seems to have gotten better appreciation with age. I think you will like it. Regarding other so so movies they are worth a watch to catch Easter eggs and jokes later on. Plus, a reaction to a meh movie can be a great reaction. A Deadpool rewatch would be fun after X-men and before Deadpool 2

Trevor Go

For sure! I've always stuck to superhero films alongside other films so I don't get bored or just solely have this channel be focused on superhero movies for those that aren't into that ✨

Kali Wali

Looks like a very good road map to me!

Lastboyscout73 (John)

Epic undertaking! Will probably join you for the X-men part; I really enjoyed those films back in the day and thought the new ones were solid. Really can't wait for you to get to Nolan's Batman trilogy eventually! They are my personal favorites of the genre (probably because they feel more like epic crime films than superhero movies).

Nick

I mean Eternals wouldn't be horrible, but Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix are objectively bad.

Phil Tilly

This is a good idea for sure if that works on your end. Even if you cant fit the whole season and just get a few episodes. Idk again just an idea, I hope it doesn't come of like we are trying to run you or anything.

Ventena

This seems like a solid plan! I'm sure you already will, but I would probably break these up with other films so that A) You don't get bored, and B) You don't get over whelmed. I would recommend Guy Ritchie films if you do this 😃👍 You'll really Enjoy Sherlock Holmes 1 & 2, The Gentlemen, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and Snatch.

Fandom Crusader

Personal recommendation, skip Eternals, X-men Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix. Marvel has already dropped Eternals from future plans. Most of the Marvel Fandom say Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix were terrible. Just FYI.

Brian

I see you are getting loads of comments. I will just add that I do agree that its probably a good idea to at least watch Daredevil S1 before Hawkeye and Spiderman: No Way Home. But also Eternals is for the most part a standalone movie, but it probably fits best closer to Dr Strange and Multiverse of Madness, so I would suggest putting Daredevil S1 in that slot.

Matthew

Oh shoot I forgot about that yeah you really sould watch season 1 of Daredevil before Hawkeye or at least like some episodes of season 1. I do not evny Kali she's got a lot of timelines and franchies to navigate at the same time.

Ventena

Another community member recommended these animated films awhile back and I think I'd really enjoy them! I'm not sure when I would watch them (mainly and more honestly, when I'd find time lol) but maybe I can jump into them after my superhero journey comes to an end and I'm missing that world since they aren't stuck into a timeline of any sort!

Kali Wali

I'm seeing this pop up a lot! I'll have to re-look at Daredevil and when to start it, what to watch alongside it in between seasons, etc. Good news is we have a little bit before I get there! So I'll think on it some more and see what I can do to make Daredevil a better experience!

Kali Wali

Wait she did when?! Aww that's too bad

Ventena

I haven't heard of doing Jessica Jones between Season 1 and 2 of Daredevil so I'll take that one into consideration! Thank you!

Kali Wali

I'm curious if you'd ever like to watch some of the DCAU (DC Animated Universe) Batman films? They don't really fit into timeline or overarching narrative, they're just animated adaptations of the most famous and popular Batman comic stories. They can vary in quality but most of them are honestly pretty good, and a few I would even say are incredible. It's a good way to dip your toes into the classic comic stories if you don't want to sit down and read through all of them.

Dude Longcouch

Pst - recommend seeing Daredevil Season 1 before you get to Hawkeye.

The Dingo

This is my recommendation as well

The Dingo

As for Daredevil, you should know that Defenders (the mini series tv show crossover) is set after seasons 1 of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist and after season 2 of Daredevil. Additionally season 3 of Daredevil is heavily influenced by the Defenders crossover event.

Ventena

Looks really solid to me. Great work between you and Maz ☺️

KJ

I would say only 1 thing about Daredevil, which is a looooong time from now, but there is a bit of a gap between season 2 and 3, where I would recommend at least watching the Defenders. Season 3 will not hit as hard without this added context of the gap. I get that the Defenders Saga is a long ass commitment which is why a lot of people skip it lol, so at the very least watching the Defenders show between Daredevil will enhance season 3. Super excited to see you back in the superhero realm Kali! Cant wait for the coming weeks!

Lorenzo Baxter

Also are there no plans to watch Across the spider-verse in the immediate future? :(

Ventena

Oop, okay. YouTube will probably hate me for skipping the end credit scene but I'll ask around and see what my mod thinks about this one!

Kali Wali

Yep! I just really want to watch some Superman & Batman films and I don't want to wait to get through all the MCU stuff right now just to do it if that makes sense ✨

Kali Wali

You are going to get a lot of comments and of course there are many right answers as best way to do it (although maybe a few wrong ones.) A few thoughts: If you’re going to do Venom - let there be carnage (and I don’t think you do need to,) do it before no way home. Otherwise just stop after first Venom. There are some really great X men movies and some that are best skipped. Happy to give my view as to which ones. But I think you will have a better experience if you are more selective there. I see you are doing Daredevil. That’s great. I really would LOVE to see you add Jessica Jones season 1 between season 1 and 2. I think it is the best Marvel Netflix season as good as Daredevil is. It has a great lead performance and one of the best Villains in Marvel entertainment.

Joe

You have been told that DC and Marvel are two different entities right? Just checking

JESSEMLR1

I wish I could squeeze Daredevil in sooner! But that coincides with the time i'll be wrapping up Season 2 of Andor so the quickest I could get to it 💕 Looking forward to it when I get there tho! I've heard great things about Daredevil 😻

Kali Wali

I can’t imagine the amount of work that went into this. A couple mentions though; the following things should technically be moved for undisclosed reasons, however I will arguably say they won’t change much if you leave the order alone, other than a couple times where you might say, “am I missing something?” Venom: Let There Be Carnage should be prior to Spider-Man: No Way Home. This is a tough one, because it’s logistically gonna suck. Daredevil should be before Hawkeye, at least season 1. Again, I don’t think NOT making these changes is going to impact your enjoyment, but there will be people that bring these up.

Hefty517

PLEASE READ AND PLEASE DONT WATCH the final venom 1 end credit scene it is just a scene straight from into the spiderverse that kinda spoils the whole premise of the movie, (please think about it at least as i believe people will enjoy it much more if you dont know what the movie is about before you start, at least i would but it is up to you of couse).

Ventena

Looks good, can't wait for almost every single one.

Christopher Larimer

This is awesome! Having X-Men begin the journey backwards was a nice touch. My only feedback would be that you might want to start watching Daredevil before No Way Home. Either way, really looking forward to watching you take this ride.

Giancarlo Gasparin

Very cool infographic! Pumped to see 'Into the Spiderverse' on there and relatively soon 😃

Chris

Can't wait for Hawkeye.

Robert Lineburg

I know they're not universally acclaimed but I am so glad to see the Venom movies here. I very much enjoyed them, especially Let There Be Carnage, and am glad they're here💜

TheTriibalChief

I just came here to say this.

Brian Leonard

Uh oh. Venom: Let There be Carnage has to be before Spider-Man No Way Home, chronologically and release date order. And then after that, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Also, you skipped Deadpool 1, which is somewhere right before Logan.
