Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Theatrical) | Full Watch Along

My heart was POUNDING during this entire movie! I am officially obsessed with Terminator. The sequel didn't just live up to The Terminator but completely shattered every expectation I had! The heart. The soul. The twists! There is always a rare kind of magic in finally watching a film that generations have adored and suddenly understanding why.

This wasn't just another action movie. It felt like an epic time capsule that somehow still lives a few steps ahead of its time. From the moment that iconic theme music kicked in, I knew I would be glued to the screen for the next two hours and I was so right. It was everything I hope for, and somehow even so much more. Relentless, sharp, emotional, and tugged at every single heartstring I have.

Yes, the explosions were loud and glorious. But the humanity in this film was louder. I fell so hard for the love, the plot twists, the emotional weight poured into this story. Once again, I was not prepared for what unfolded in this film. It had me unable to sit still with too much excitement at what would happen next!

Watching a machine learn how to protect, to care, to almost feel... was honestly beautiful. Theere were moments that made my jaw drop. Moments that knocked the breath right out of me. And moments so quiet and sweet that they snuck into my soul and now live there forever.

This story wasn't just about the future, it was about fate. Survival. The power of choice. It reached into that hopeful part of me that still believes people can change. That the future can be better. That even the most unlikely hearts can learn to beat with true purpose.

If the first film lit a spark in me, T2 poured gasoline on it and handed me a lit match.

Thank you for being on this epic journey with me!! "It's in our nature to destroy ourselves" was the films message to us. But at the same time, it also whispers that we can always choose differently.

I'm officially a lifelong fan of this franchise πŸ”₯✨

Ahh that documentary sounds like an awesome way to get to know all those familiar faces I've seen without even realizing who they are lol. Thank you!

Kali Wali

I want to check them out still (eventually, prob not anytime soon?) just because I enjoyed these first two so much! But I'll sit in the world of only the first two for awhile 🀍 hehe

Kali Wali

Thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed this one as much as I did !

Kali Wali

LOL that is actually hilarious 🀣 X-Files has been my night time binge for a few months now. I knew I wouldn't be able to get through all of the seasons and shows in watchalong format so I've been binging it and absolutely loving it!

Kali Wali

The behind the scenes details and connection in this film are actually insane! Thank you for sharing!! Robert Patrick basing T-1000's movements on a cat is so crazy to me! But it makes the whole finger wagging scene even more epic now rather than just hilariously weird hahahaha I need to check out those other films you mentioned now! Especially The Abyss and Copland. I love seeing where all the tech and talent came from! Someone else shared the entire twin situation and I was floored. No wonder why it was so believable! In the back of my mind while watching I was just absolutely mind blown that this early 90s film pulled off so many effects so flawlessly! And I loooved thinking about the whole time travel paradox in this movie. It gave me some flashbacks to how my brain felt melting while watching Back to the Future last Spring lol. The chip stuff is so wild when you really think about it And I agree 100% about Arnold in this film. He is so magnetic and loveable! I'll definitely have to give the extended edition a watch. I'm thinking about saving it until next year and having another watch along with you all just because I enjoyed this movie so much and it would be fun to see the differences between the two. Plus, now knowing about the terminator, twins, effects, and what actually went on while making this would make a rewatch very enjoyable!

That's wild to me that everyone already knew going in that Terminator was the good guy!? WHAT. I feel like that entire twists was so awesome to me!! I knew something was fishy, but I couldn't quite place it until that hallway scene and then I was just in shock 🀣 I'm so sorry for people that went into it already knowing because honestly, that made this movie so epic to me! Not the only reason.. but definitely up there. I am also surprised at the whole twin sister with the impersonation scene! That's incredible and no wonder why it was so realistic! And another twin situation with the security guard haha. It's so genius. Thank you for sharing that! And I definitely heard Eddie Furlong's voice crack a few times πŸ˜…

Kali Wali

Ahh that's insane! I wish the movies were still like this in theatre..

No matter the film, nor show, whenever Joe Morton is on-screen, I just feel like I'm in good hands. Even in films I do not possess a particular fondness for. If he was in every movie, ever, I would not object. Not a lot of character actors have that quality for me, but if I were to name a few, off-the-cuff: David Morse, Joe Morton, Judy Greer, Lily Tomlin, etc. These kinds of actors have long been the glue that holds mainstream filmmaking together. "Who's that actor? I know them. They're in everything, but I don't know their name. They're always in good-ass movies, though!". There was a cool documentary made over 10 years ago, called, "That Guy...Who Was in That Thing". I recommend it to anyone who has made it through reading this comment. :-)

One of my all-time favorite movies. Never get tired of watching it. The sequels aren't terrible. I like to view them as separate entities from the first 2. Because with all the time travelling, you create so many paradoxes, none of it can really make any sense as one long story. The sequels are best viewed like "fan-fiction" alternate realities. I think Terminator: Genisys is my favorite. It's kinda dumb but it's fun.

Your reactions are so entertaining, the laughs, the tears, everything! The other movies aren't that great, but they can sometimes be fun.

Joe Mallard

When I was a kid I saw this before X-Files. So later when I saw X-Files I didn’t trust him at all when he was in it lol

Eric Capretta

Patrick is awesome in Copland, Reacher and Peacemaker.

Awesome reaction as always. Only Predator and Robocop to go and you'll complete the whole set ! Robert Patrick (the T-1000) based his movements on a cat. His finger wag is epic. Patrick is in one of the best thrillers Copland by James Mangold (Logan) which stars Stallone in an acting role, Robert De Nero, Harvey Kietel, John Spencer (West Wing) and Ray Liotta (Goodfellas). Edward Furlong (John) is in an incredible thriller called American History X, one of the grimiest films about neo-nazis in America with Edward Norton. Not for the faint hearted but somehow very relevant today. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is so much better than The Sarah Conner TV show. Just sayin… The extended version is awesome and adds some great stuff, some of which I can't believe they cut. Try that for your next watch. The morphing effect was completely brand new and relied on digitally creating thousands of cameras to give the T-1000 it's reflective quality. This technology was pioneered in Cameron's incredible The Abyss (sci-fi... should be on your list) and in George Lucas' fairy story Willow. After this movie, everyone was using it. Did you recognise Vasquez from Aliens (Jeanette Goldstein) as John's step mom ? There are also two sets of twins in this movie. We have the guard at the hospital/ prison and Linda's twin sister whom appeared in the playground dream sequence and in the foundry. It's already been said that the time travel logic in this (and Back to the Future) is twaddle... but there is another interesting paradox in this. Cyberdyne invented the AI which then invented the Terminator that went back to kill Sarah in the first film. Miles gets hold of the damaged chip and invents the AI that destroys the world. However... "the chip... it gave us ideas... things we would NEVER think of ourselves..." So without the chip, Dyson would not have invented the AI that made the Terminator that dropped the chip that Dyson used to make the AI... Arnie is so perfect for this particular Terminator, more so than the first one. Arnie's English was not so fab in the first one which meant his dialogue was minimal. Also his body building and stage performances at Mr Universe gave him that physical presence that was required for portraying the cyborg. But in this his English was better. He'd been in several hits and became a household name due to his massive heart and unbelievable screen charisma. So in this he just had to do the same, but just allow cracks of that magnetic charisma shine through, and the audience would be putty in his hands for that final exit. When I left the cinema watching this as a 15 yr old, I thought it was the best movie I'd ever seen. Time has not been kind. The slow mo shots on the stunt doubles are telling, and in my opinion it goes on about 20 mins too long. These days I honestly prefer the original especially as it was guerrilla film making on a shoe string budget. One thing is for certain... The Terminator will be back !

The best thing about people doing reactions to this movie is because when the movie was new, the advertising and publicity totally gave away the twist that Arnold was a good guy Terminator in this movie. No one was surprised when they saw it happen back then. Now we get to see peoples' reactions when it's a complete surprise, and it's delightful every time. There's a lot of fun facts about this one, too. Like how when the T-1000 impersonates Sarah, and you see them both on screen at the same time... that's not even a special effect. Linda Hamilton's identical twin sister helped out with filming that scene (and another one that was cut, but is included in the special edition). The security guard the T-1000 killed while sneaking in to the hospital was also played by a pair of twins, who also have been in other movies of the time like Gremlins 2 and Good Morning, Vietnam. Like how John's foster mother was played by frequent James Cameron hire Jeanette Goldstein, best known for playing Vasquez in Aliens. Or how Tarissa Dyson was played by the same actress who played Reba the Mail Lady on Pee-Wee's Playhouse. Or that Eddie Furlong was at just the right age for his voice to change while they were filming the movie, so that he sounded like two completely different people from one scene to the next. He had to go back after filming was done and loop almost all of his dialogue, though you can still hear his voice cracking on a number of occasions.

We went like an hour early to see this in the theater. The giant lobby was completely full of hundreds of people waiting to get in. It was nuts. Hugely hyped and anticipated back then.

Brad

Terminator 1 is the better movie imo T2 has superior set-piece stunts, but T1 has more tension, grit, a tighter story, with compelling chemistry between the two central characters

Milton Reduxed

In the first take, Robert Partick ran so fast he caught Edward Furlong on his dirt bike. After calling cut, James Cameron essentially said "well, I guess that's the end of the movie" 🀣 what a phenomenal job he did being a cold, calculating, near unstoppable killer.

KJ

The Sarah Conor Chronicles are cool, in my opinion the rest of the movies are not good, but it's your channel, watch them if you like.
