GWL3D November Update
Added 2020-11-09 18:13:23 +0000 UTCHere's the monthly update to let everyone know what's going on with the game.
Things are still mainly in pre-production, I've been doing some character sketches here and there, but the main focus right now is planning.
GWL3D is a lot bigger in scope than anything I've worked on before, and it's a lot more open ended. When I was writing for the previous games I only had to worry about a single narrative with a few variations, but this time I have to write lots of smaller scenarios and fit them together like a puzzle. I want to create a world that's genuinely interesting to explore, with tons of unique characters and bonus content. When I was working on the visual novels I tried to cram in lots of Easter eggs and offshoots, which is why I think a 3D adventure game is the perfect next step for GWL.
So that's really the bulk of what I'm doing right now, lots and lots of planning, with a project this big it's best to get this out of the way early, that way I'm not creating assets for things I won't need until much later in development.
A lot of my drawing time is focused on commissions at the moment, I just moved into a new house, so things are still pretty hectic. I need to make sure I have a steady stream of money coming in. As the months go on I should be more secure, which will give me more time to draw things for GWL. Hopefully by that point the Patreon will have attracted enough attention for GWL3D to go into full development.
I guess it's like a domino effect, the more stuff I draw, the more chances it gives for people to see my work, and with any luck it'll direct them towards this project. I just have to stay positive and keep working hard x3
I'm also looking into different ways to advertise the project so more people can become aware of it.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my games so far, and welcome to all the new people that have signed up! I understand that pre-production isn't the most exciting part of game development, but it's fundamental to ensure this game gets off on the right foot.
Over time you'll see more content based posts as I start to create game assets, the next step will be a playable vertical slice style demo area, which will be available first to Patreon supporters.
