As listeners might guess, we wanted to talk to them about what opportunities Trump might have during his second term to reshape the federal judiciary—and if he can secure the confirmations of Kash Patel at the FBI and Pam Bondi as Attorney General, perhaps a lot more than that. Topics include: President Biden's successes, and failures, when it comes to the courts, and what he's handing off to Trump; what kind of judges Trump is likely to appoint; if there's a MAGA wing of the conservative legal movement now, akin to Project 2025 or the America First Policy Institute; whether Justice Alito is a Fox News uncle or an OAN uncle; and more.

2024-12-18 02:33:01 +0000 UTCOne of the things I’m finding strange watching from the UK is that a lot of left commentators do seem to be aware of just how bad it looks like things are going to be under Trump - but there doesn’t seem to be full scale anti fascist organising going on? Like, people have until January to organise the people they know and trust without the cops breathing down your necks - people need to be doing that now, not waiting to react to whatever the GOP do. Maybe it’s because the US left is just so small and so spread out, but it seems like you’re all talking about how the train is going to smack in to you, but you aren’t moving off the tracks!
