DESIGNS AHOY: Sketches for the "CATGIRL THIEF" from the mysterious "UNIDENTIFIED FANTASY OFFERING" project!

Time for another update from the upcoming fantasy comic project codenamed Unidentified Fantasy Offering (aka its actual title, Godplayers)!

One of the project's sprawling cast of characters—we're talking at least six g-d protagonists and six main antagonists along with a rotating series of secondary foes!—is a dark-haired Catgirl Thief (or Rogue, per current-era D&D), as seen in one of the few design sheets I worked up myself in Clip Studio Paint:

I swear to the Gods, I somehow was not thinking of Izutsumi from Delicious in Dungeon (nor the more obscure but similar-in-appearance Fran from the isekai anime Reincarnated as a Sword) when I wrote up this character. No, really!

However, Godplayers' prospective artist Matthew Weldon has produced many more very cool sketches of her:

In retrospect, we should probably give her a different hair color to get away from the Izutsumi resemblance. Could she be a chaotic "orange cat," perhaps?

'Tis a pity she only appears in a bunch of flashback scenes in the first two issues of Godplayers, alas...

Yeahp, she was originally classed as a "Rogue" before I decided to revert to the more Old-School-Renaissance-adjacent nomenclature of "Thief."

Tricky bit with this Catgirl Thief is that, in the narrative's present-day timeframe, she's a figure of utterly terrifying power, which should prove amusing in contrast to her notable cuteness.

Note that Matthew can knock out fantasy costumes easy-peasy "off the top of the dome," whereas yours truly really has to struggle with generating such outfits. (Needless to say, I never had any intention of ever drawing Godplayers myself, given its requirements for industrial-scale fantasy costume design.)

Anyhoo, expect to see another round of Catgirl Thief design sketches next month, folks; in the meantime, back to scripting the dialogue for Godplayers' second issue!

NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: No idea, TBH, but something should be coming up in the next M/W/F slot. Let's find out together, shall we?

Tortie/calico are probably choices where I'd be harder pressed to immediately wonder if it was referencing something. The notorious Cats musical duo of Mungojerrie/Rumpleteazer are usually depicted as orange in costumes based off the London/Broadway traditions.
