2025-08-28 01:47:00 +0000 UTCTo me this looks more like standard video encode/decode quality loss

2025-08-22 20:30:12 +0000 UTCIs the voice with the gravitas echo your "Mom" voice? All in all, I have to disagree, Jill. The dimples are still adorable in every version.

2025-08-22 18:53:51 +0000 UTCI’m gonna have to look at this on a desktop because on my phone it actually just looks worse as it goes ending in something looking kind of blurry.

2025-08-22 18:20:34 +0000 UTCOn my phone, which is very much not 4K, this is barely noticeable. At least until the over-smoothing and audio desyncing starts happening, that's extremely noticeable.

2025-08-22 18:15:06 +0000 UTCIs this a new glasses test? How many recursive uploads until you notice a difference? Cause I feel like I should have noticed earlier than 7 first time... I went back and watched and wow how did I miss the whatever that is during the transition between you moving and you being stationary?

2025-08-22 18:05:27 +0000 UTCYou're not the first person to notice this and I've been thinking a lot about why YouTube might be doing this. This could be YouTube poisoning the well against anyone (other than themselves) using YouTube videos to train AI. You've seen how bad an AI generated video gets when it is fed another AI generated video as input. I've heard a lot of Sysadmins complaining over the past year or so about AI companies are almost DDOSing the entire internet on a daily basis scouring every last corner of the Web for training data. One solution has been to poison their websites with stuff that most humans wouldn't notice but would render the content useless for AI training purposes.

2025-08-22 17:23:15 +0000 UTCI really want this to be back-edited into a bunch of old movies/tv where they "enhance" an image, and it goes from being standard security camera footage into a wonky smoothed out, indecipherable beige.

2025-08-22 17:09:26 +0000 UTCIn my head I hear the TV protagonist say to their pet techie, "can you enhance that?" and then six pixels become a Rembrandt.

2025-08-22 17:05:29 +0000 UTCYeah, me too. I expected much worse.

2025-08-22 16:59:30 +0000 UTCThe compression is so horrible. V1 looks decent. V15 is weird.

2025-08-22 16:56:22 +0000 UTCInteresting experiment. To be honest, I'm quite impressed by how good the 15 iteration image looked.

2025-08-22 16:55:56 +0000 UTCIt's like a car crash, you know you shouldn't look but somehow your neck turns your head anyway.
