2024-12-18 07:10:52 +0000 UTCThis may be worth checking. PLEASE READ!! tl;dr -- web host service would not accept my form because my IP address was blacklisted, here's how to check. I had a problem with my web hosting service, and needed to log in to update billing information. I could not log in. The password reset form did not send me an email to reset the password. After a LOT of working things through with one of their support people, he checked my IP address. (Most ISPs will assign you an essentially random address from their pool unless you arrange for a fixed one.) So he directed me first to whatismyip.com, where I read off what it reported my IP address was. Then he plugged that into a blacklist service. And ... for some damned reason, my IP address was marked as blacklisted! When I tried filling out the password reset form with my work laptop, going through my work VPN (hence a different IP address), the password reset worked! So: 1) visit www.whatismyip.com 2) visit mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?run=toolpage ... in the orange action drop-down select "blacklist", enter your IP address in the text field, press the orange button. If you find you are on a blacklist ... well, contact your ISP to get a new one assigned. (I haven't done that yet, I'm still working through my VPN when I need my web hosting service page...)
