This release complements my YouTube video going over Baldurs Gate 3, where I focus on the Crown of Karsus and all of its associated relics - powerful magical items dating back to the ancient empire of Netheril, the greatest human civilization in the Forgotten Realms.

Netheril: Empire of Magic
Since my video touched on several different topics, I decided to focus this packet on the source of them all: The Netherese Empire. As one of the most influential civilizations in the Forgotten Realms, much of what unfolds in Baldur’s Gate 3 can be traced back to this empire of magic. This packet breaks down the history, magic, and legacy of Netheril and includes the following:
A recap of the history of the Netherese, from their birth to the climactic moment of their fall.
A detailed overview of the mythallar, the artifacts that allowed the Netherese cities to fly and powered their great spells and magical items. It features full mechanical rules, such as attunement and its abilities, so you can incorporate them into your adventures.
Since the Netherese were known for casting spells of 10th level and higher, this packet provides optional rules for DMs who wish to let their players do the same. It includes guidelines for crafting such spells, the material components required, and the lore explaining why modern casters can no longer achieve this power.
A comprehensive entry on the phaerimm, the ancient aberrations whose hunger for magic doomed the Netherese Empire. Includes complete stat blocks for juvenile, adult, and elder phaerimm to challenge your players with the horrors that ended an age.
Twelve canonical spells from ancient Netheril, originally published in older editions, redesigned and rebalanced for 5th Edition. Includes two 10th-level spells that DMs can use to showcase the great power of the Netherese or grant to players who are able to craft them.
