AKERBELTZ

In the shadows of Basque mythology lurks Akerbeltz, a mysterious spirit believed to dwell within the land itself. With his many elf servants, he reigns supreme over the animals, wielding the power to create storms and bestow clothing upon his charges.

Yet tales of Akerbeltz are not limited to mere reverence for the natural world. Some say he is a dark figure, the very embodiment of the devil himself. Whispers speak of his sinister deeds, including unspeakable sexual abuses against members of Christian covens.

The legends surrounding Akerbeltz are steeped in mystery and superstition, with some believing him to be an ancient deity who once protected animals. In certain Basque baserri, the goat was revered as a symbol of his power.

But beware the caves of Zugarramurdi, where the veil between worlds grows thin. It is said that Akerbeltz can be found there, along with elves, lamia, and witches. Even priests have not been immune to his influence - one was said to have lost his hands after touching the gold within the caves. Mysterious voices whispered from the depths, offering cryptic thanks to the priest's chest for sparing him a worse fate.

Rumors persist to this day of Aker's ghost haunting the caves of Baigorri, and of a treasure trove guarded by both snake and spirit in Urepel. Those who venture too close may find themselves ensnared in the enigmatic and dangerous world of Akerbeltz.
