March's Map of the Month Preview - Forest-Edge Tower

Hey everyone,

It's already time for a preview!

March's Map of the Month is pretty special, we think! The name is just a placeholder, but we're pleased to show you Forest-Edge Tower. A wizards tower built near the edge of a dark and forbidding forest. Do they guard the forest? Or watch for dangers?

The map is 30x50, and comes with interiors for each floor.   There's also a ruined tower version which includes a ruined cellar.

And then there's the variants - a haunted, winter and marsh set of each, each with a ruined version, and each with interiors (which are all a little different!). I've actually lost track of how many interiors and combinations that will be, but it does mean you can mix & match the interiors, giving you lots of variety. Plus the ruined versions can either be used as they are, or part of a time-travelling adventure.

Alt-Version

As usual, we'd like you to suggest an Alt-Version.  This time though you can use either the MotM or any of the three variants as the starting point.  How would you reimagine this map? How can we change it into a new location? Maybe the tower is changed, or replaced? Or the landscape around changes?

Remember it should be a fantasy themed idea, and is a re-imagining, not a completely new map.   If you do use one of the variants as the starting point, please indicate which one.

Put your ideas in the comments below. We'll pick our favourites and put together a poll where you can decide which one we make!

Is this post suggesting you are going to provide map overlays for the tower? Let's hope so.

Robert Ackling

The tower is not a tower. It's a rocket. Some foolhardy gnome decided to go and build himself an actual rocket to try and blast himself into the outer spheres. This map is his raised landing platform. Colorful spotlights illuminate the structure and the warehouse below the platform is choked with cast-off parts, inscrutable devices, and automatons in various states of repair--the utterly forgotten byproducts of the spacegnome's haste to achieve zero-g (the g stands for "gnome", because no gnome has ventured there before). Bonus points for a secondary map with NO rocket and a platform that is blackened and destroyed by a catastrophic explosion.
