Screw that, I am terrified of the ocean. Not scared of the moon or space as far as I know though, so probably going to stick with that. Although...... getting stuck in space would be really scary too..... like the movie 'Gravity'... And if I run up a tree to the moon, how the heck do I get back? There are no trees on the moon!! Damn it, I am scared. -- Screw it, I am staying home!

I can take pics if you want some, itโs meant to be sunny this weekend, Oxford would make a nice day trip ๐ I couldnโt find a picture of Mikeโs broken glass sculpture ๐ข Like a stereotypical Oz, Sarah barbecued the ice ๐ง ๐ Sarah Kendall *IS* actually meant to be a comedian who gets laughs ๐คฃ Okaaaay, lets compare the โcost" (computational complexity) of the knuckles method to the rhyme method ๐ Lets assume we all know ahead of time February has 28/9 days so doesnโt involve any cost. Knuckles Method The โcostโ of finding the length of each month involves counting knuckles this many times: Jan: 1, Feb: 0, Mar: 3, Apr: 4, May: 5, Jun: 6, Jul: 7, Aug: 8, Sep: 9, Oct: 10, Nov: 11, Dec: 12 So the average number of โstepsโ or counts using the knuckle method, for a randomly chosen month is: (1+0+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+11+12)/12 or 6.333 counts. Rhyme Method โ30 days in September, April June and Novemberโ all the rest are 31 except February. The โcostโ of finding the length of each month involves checking to see if your month is one of โSeptember, April, June or Novemberโ if it is none of these, it has 31 days. You should read Juan Tamariz book โMnemonicaโ It teaches you how to remember a specific order of a deck of cards, itโs full of mnemonic aid exercises to help you remember. At one point I remembered the entire deck order. The amazing thing is, after creating several different very personal mnemonic aids, and completely scribbling over a practice deck of cards with your crazy โcluesโ, then a whole load of practice practice and more practice, you donโt need to rely on your silly mnemonics any more and your brain makes the direct associations. ๐ฅณ What I mean is, with enough practice you can train your brain to map any month to directly recall its number of days, it really isnโt that hard, just takes a little practice.
