Sagittarius Season - Adventure, Travel, Freedom

The Sun has now moved from the depths of Scorpio to the free-spirited and wild stars of Sagittarius. The Sun will enjoy its time in this fiery sign from the 19th of December 2023 until the 20th of January 2024.

When the Sun is in Sagittarius, we are sparked with inspiration and a drive to experience all things new and exciting. Boredom, routine and laziness is not in question. Have you booked a trip recently or have been planning to? Are you feeling like a fresh start in 2024. The Sagittarius archer is fearless, brave and adventurous. To tie down and cage-up the Sagittarius archetype is to throw water over a beaming fire. Wild and free is the words I would use to describe this season. It’s quite fitting that we have the Christmas holidays during this time where plane tickets and holiday accommodation is always sold out. The beach or a ski trip sounds like a dream and your home and job is feeling a little too familiar.

Sagittarius is curious about everything vast and difficult to comprehend. They usually ask the questions that no one seems to be able to answer. They are the philosophers. Now is a great time to expand the horizons of what you love to learn about. Have an open mind and dive into the ancient mysteries of the world.

Physical activity is greatly supported during this time. So be outside as much as you can. Go for a hike, swim in natural bodies of water, etc. For the Sagittarian, even the sky is not the limit. Their energy is hard to contain, and they are always up for a new adventure.

Ancient Sagittarius Mythology

Sagittarius the Archer, located between Scorpio and Capricorn, is very old, dating back to the ancient Mesopotamiens who associated the constellation to Nergal who was the god of the netherworld, bringing war, pestilence, fever and devastation. In one of his better appearances Nergal was said to be the guardian of the door to the dead.

The ancient Egypts saw Sagittarius as a centaur as well, only the creature had a lion's head. The association of the centaur with war and destruction most likely resulted with the sight of warriors riding horses, which was uncommon in times when battles where fought with chariots.

Also, the Kassites, rivals of Egypt and Assyria in struggling for the rulership of Near East, used to set up stones to mark the boundries of their realms, carving in figures of gods or guardian spirits and some of these were half-man and half-horse creatures. The Assyrians also underpinned the image of a centaur as warlike and uncivilised. What all centaurs of all ancient civilisations had in common was that they were armed with bow and arrow.
