Behold! BEHOLD! Behold. Everyone! Thank you for your patience and support! Volume Five is on its way! I've sent an order for a test copy to my print service of choice (Ka-Blam), and as soon as I know the finished product meets my ruthless standards I'll order more! And then you'll be able to order from ME!
I can't wait. It's a special feeling to complete a book. And this volume was particularly time consuming! For one thing, it's by far the largest edition in the series. 213 comics pages, roughly twice as many as Volume 3! Also, this was the first which required a cover illustration of its own. As you can see!
While I'm satisfied that the imagery I gave to the last four covers turned out fairly well, they were each put together with previous drawings which were combined, recycled, or rearranged. This was the first illustration made solely, specifically to serve as a book cover, so I put a lot of time and care into it. The final product will carry the previous volumes' format, with the big title marquee, but I think it's rather nice on its own. I'll be putting a wordless version into my DeviantArt gallery (deviantart.com/JoeEngland).
It's kind of whimsical, really. The twilight behind Zandra seems rather bittersweet to me. I guess it's just because it's the last chapter of this precious project. I couldn't resist giving it a cinematic motif for this announcement. Remember when movie posters were drawn or painted rather than just Photoshopped together? More people should have followed in Drew Struzan's footsteps, but nowadays it's mostly just cut and paste, bad perspective and bland composition. Whatever gets butts into seats, right? Feh.
Oh, well, that's neither here nor there. And neither is Volume 5, but it will be! Probably in a matter of weeks! I think "Holiday Season" should cover it. I'll be sure to let you all know as soon as it's available. There'll be a button in the website's shop for Heaven on Earth, sitting neatly under its sister volumes (zebragirl.thecomicseries.com/shop/).
And then, finally, we can look forward to the last word, the Omnibus. I still intend to put all volumes together into a special, hardcover edition! But, woah. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, lest we leave ourselves behind. And as they say, devil take the hindmost!
