Help me pick a character concept! π©
Added 2023-07-24 15:29:48 +0000 UTCI'm stuck between two concepts for a character for this week's video and I need somebody else to make the decision for me! Without context or detail: which one interests you more?
(Also accepting name suggestions in the comments if you have any, for either concept!)
Comments
true enough, wasn't thinking or rather was already starting to plan out an npc inspired by that concept :D

2023-07-26 16:25:41 +0000 UTC...her! All my characters are women!
Ginny Di
2023-07-26 15:53:56 +0000 UTCTiefling baker, call him Roland or Rol(l) for short
Marcel Kral
2023-07-25 08:48:40 +0000 UTCI think these are both excellent ideas ... but I suppose you wouldn't have asked us if it they weren't!
Brooks Moses
2023-07-25 07:26:51 +0000 UTCIβm contractually obligated to always pick the spooky option. I donβt make the rules. π»
Steven Lanzarotta
2023-07-25 07:01:45 +0000 UTCMy suggestion for a name for a changeling is "Jynx Dusk"
Brian Seals
2023-07-25 05:45:01 +0000 UTCBonflamΓ© "or just call me Bonnie" for the one who uses infernal fire to cook delicious food.
Alex Caton
2023-07-25 01:29:04 +0000 UTCif i have to pick one to vote for, i say baker
Anthony Docimo
2023-07-25 01:20:29 +0000 UTCthey're both very tempting and potentially full of character development to come...maybe the wholesome tiefling baker who makes wholesome foods - but some of her equipment is cursed, and she can't get rid of those equipment (or won't?)
Anthony Docimo
2023-07-25 01:20:05 +0000 UTCHa! Then I'll switch to the changeling and hope they've got a cursed muffin or a magical doughnut.
Fred Bertsch
2023-07-25 00:22:39 +0000 UTCNo gnome this time, but that's an adorable name!!
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 23:50:32 +0000 UTChey, I didn't ask what you thought would be easy for me, I asked which was most interesting π leave the costume design to me!
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 23:50:00 +0000 UTCvery cool!! doesn't really work in this context, since this is a sort of a "flavor character" for a video about player options (so this character isn't really the focus) but a very interesting concept for another changeling!
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 23:49:22 +0000 UTCmake it Vincenza and you've got a deal lol
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 23:48:30 +0000 UTCbecause I have the right makeup/contact lenses to cosplay a changeling in their true form π
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 23:47:51 +0000 UTCLooks like the spooktacular nerdy item vendor's leading the pack. I love the idea of a wholesome baker (the rare non-edgy Tief) but a changeling's also good - I just hope she has a cool headband eyepatch-style magnifier for item appraisal!
Luka Murphy
2023-07-24 23:18:19 +0000 UTCChef Veeliam Stroganoff Tiefling, always like tiefling and see few nice ones.
Jerry Barker
2023-07-24 23:12:57 +0000 UTCThe only reason I didn't pick your Cheerful baker/chef is because I'm in 2 D&D games where folks have picked that concept. Pastry is a big draw, apparently. Killed by pirates is good. I mean, Changeling Curses are good.
Fletcher Williams
2023-07-24 19:56:54 +0000 UTCI have to second the suggestion of another user Myriad sounds like an awesome name for a changeling
John c McDonnell
2023-07-24 19:49:29 +0000 UTCI freely admit that I picked changeling because it seems like a cool costuming design to take on and more different from your other characters. Sundra is a riff on sundry. I also like the suggestion for Myriad. Mari is hard put upon to improve all the displays and enhance the items. "Mari, add this! Mari, add that! Could I no just take a break?" In my canon, Changelings tend to only keep one simple name.
Lorcan Murphy
2023-07-24 19:48:34 +0000 UTCPredictably, Wednesday.
Tinman Ofoz
2023-07-24 18:42:58 +0000 UTCHoliday βHollyβ Apple-Blossom Plumkin - the Gnome Chef!
Amara Wiseman
2023-07-24 18:22:06 +0000 UTCName ideas: Mirinda Spegulo Livro Fantasma Gizli Tooverkoper Gwyneth Shadowmark Rowena Grimm Elara Obsura
Napear
2023-07-24 18:00:20 +0000 UTCSpooky and nerdy sounds like all the cool people I know, so that's my jam. As for a name, maybe Myriad (or alternate spelling). Can be a nod to taking many forms, many identities and ways to describe themselves, while also sorta invoking the word "mysterious" (mostly the spelling but still)
Daniel Melican
2023-07-24 17:38:30 +0000 UTCLooking forward to you bringing this to life :)
Mallilion
2023-07-24 17:21:01 +0000 UTCI love tieflings! I instantly pictured her with flour on her cheeks and a huge white apron, putting some bagels on her horns to cool. :D And her name is Delight. <3
betelgeuse
2023-07-24 16:49:03 +0000 UTCA Tiefling cook named Capsaicin makes sense
Max Brannan
2023-07-24 16:40:55 +0000 UTCIsn't costume design for a changling mostly a nightmare? I voted for the chef.
Fred Bertsch
2023-07-24 16:39:30 +0000 UTCOooh, Option A was actually my concept for my first Pathfinder character! A magical merchant is so fun
Connor Altier
2023-07-24 16:29:21 +0000 UTCI like the idea of a classic doppelganger take on the changeling. The idea that it has no name and so is collecting the names of all of its victims but this one has developed an emotional connection to all of these people that it has replaced and vacillates between the names like old lovers that they have this reminiscent fondness for despite how it ended. This could be played out by them always speaking in third person and getting distracted as they remember details that they liked about that version of them.
Happyman
2023-07-24 16:27:59 +0000 UTCName idea: Vinnie the Junk Dealer. His side hustle is to offer cursed items to buyers who then use them for the demise of thier enemies.
Michael Harris
2023-07-24 16:22:41 +0000 UTCI was also torn for this one. When I read the first I was instantly sold ... but then you said cheerful chef and baker, which was basically me for 20 years lol (minus the horn) Ultimately I went for baker... but only because maybe spooky item vendor will fit the fall better?
Denise Atwood
2023-07-24 16:22:28 +0000 UTCThat was an easy one, the first NPC is likely needed for someone campaign. The second one is too mundane. By the way, why Changeling when you can use a doppleganger . They can create more challenging stories. ;)
George J.Lekkas
2023-07-24 16:16:53 +0000 UTCSpooky vendor name. "Lorice"
Rick Henderson
2023-07-24 16:10:41 +0000 UTCThank you, I know its against the lore but I saw her as trying to be a different type of changeling, rather than being a vendor selling cursed items like might be expected of the bad rep changeling can have but someone who was a curse breaker trying to do good and changed how people look at their species, which also included a fancier to fit in better. But then I do things weirdly, my last game had the evil elven empire as bad guys
simon jones
2023-07-24 16:10:22 +0000 UTCGender-neutral, kinda spooky in a "scooby doo" sort of way, their business could be called "Knick-knack's Knick-knacks!" haha
Josh Dawson
2023-07-24 16:09:14 +0000 UTCChangelings need some love too. Plus your makeup with your little feral gnome is a vibe.
Sir Bloom the Third
2023-07-24 16:05:04 +0000 UTCFor the changeling: Venefica. Latin for βsorceressβ or βpoisonerβ
Leo Jackson
2023-07-24 16:03:55 +0000 UTCoh, that's so cute?!
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 15:55:52 +0000 UTCKnick-knack as a possible name for the changeling merchant?
Josh Dawson
2023-07-24 15:53:10 +0000 UTCthese are incredible omg π I'm also a nut for shifty wares, although I tend to lean more towards incompetence than malice when creating surprising items, so this could be a fun exploration!!
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 15:46:45 +0000 UTCdamn, that's a hell of a name!! probably not quite right for a changeling, since they tend to have really short names, but I love the vibes!
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 15:45:54 +0000 UTCLove the idea of someone who scares the shit out of you at first but then is super happy and nice β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Littledndshack
2023-07-24 15:44:12 +0000 UTCTiefling could be named Sear, and her specialty? (Sell Your) Soul Food
Khadorek
2023-07-24 15:43:54 +0000 UTCI like Maria for the teifling! Idk why
TheSimzLife
2023-07-24 15:42:16 +0000 UTCThese are both wonderful, but I have a soft spot for changelings and for shifty vendors with dubious wares... a Cloak of Invisibility (that also blinds you while you're invisible). A Circlet of Language Comprehension (that lets you speak a new language fluently but makes you forget Common). A Dagger of Healing (deals 1d4 damage AND heals 1d8 hp simultaneously).
Andrew Kibelbek
2023-07-24 15:40:44 +0000 UTCSpooky for the win, I also like Vhala'thuda Dhuumathor for a name
simon jones
2023-07-24 15:39:36 +0000 UTCFor the changeling how about Dusty? That seems evocative for the hair/complexion colors in changeling art I've seen.
Jennifer DeJesus
2023-07-24 15:39:28 +0000 UTCAs someone who loves Legends & Lattes I have to go with the Tiefling Chef
Kalcheus
2023-07-24 15:39:05 +0000 UTC100% always gonna vote spooky, BUT that might be good to save for Sept/Oct too :)
M. Bock
2023-07-24 15:38:41 +0000 UTCOh I can add on to that how about spelling Vicky like this Vichy it would still be a food pun because of a French soup called Vichyssoise
Kent (Otakukent)
2023-07-24 15:36:56 +0000 UTCI'd love to see both. But the idea of some little weirdo opening up a trench coat full of random knick knacks to make a clandestine sale is just too delightful
Hog and Dice
2023-07-24 15:36:00 +0000 UTCThere HAS to be a "Devil's Food Cake" name pun somewhere
David Pierce
2023-07-24 15:35:52 +0000 UTCChangelings tend to have very short names. Something fun, like Salt. Ironic since they are *not* the baker. lol
Browncoat Jayson
2023-07-24 15:35:49 +0000 UTCoh my god, the changeling is winning but all these chef ideas are convincing me that I need to sit on that tiefling idea for a future video π
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 15:35:47 +0000 UTCWholesome demon girl chef please. ohmagod.
Kjell McGuirk
2023-07-24 15:35:35 +0000 UTCI want both, but feel I must vote against my love of spook, bc cute wholesome baker tiefling is so great
Svenulf
2023-07-24 15:35:19 +0000 UTCIf the chef has a business: Devil's Eggs?
Bobbie Markwick
2023-07-24 15:34:53 +0000 UTCCROQUETTE-- π₯Ή
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 15:34:49 +0000 UTCFarella for the vendor; Croquette for the baker.
ChatN
2023-07-24 15:34:30 +0000 UTCI love using nouns for Tiefling names, so if you pick the baker maybe like the name of a type of pastry?
Rachel Paige
2023-07-24 15:34:28 +0000 UTCgod, that's relatable π
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 15:34:15 +0000 UTCthere are soooo many possibilities for a good tiefling virtue name inspired by food/cooking!! for some reason I'm thinking her name is Victual and she goes by Vic or Vickie π
Ginny Di
2023-07-24 15:33:58 +0000 UTCThese characters feel like the two versions of me in fall.
Sam Tillett
2023-07-24 15:33:14 +0000 UTCI see Spooky and I must vote.
Chris Codina
2023-07-24 15:32:35 +0000 UTCThe chef should have a name thatβs unique I think basing the name off of a food or food pun would be interesting
Kent (Otakukent)
2023-07-24 15:32:13 +0000 UTCDont get me wrong, I love a good baker, but for you, the POSSIBILITIES for quest writing for a changeling item seller are soooo interesting
