The GenCon Announcement that Never Was
Added 2023-07-28 20:41:04 +0000 UTCI had initially scripted a cute and funny skit to announce my GenCon schedule, but unfortunately I couldn't make the time to execute it, so I did the easy thing instead.
Here's a behind-the-scenes peek at the announcement that never was!

GINNY is standing over a suitcase resting on her bed. She zips it with finality and dusts off her hands.
GINNY
Great! All ready for GenCon.
There is a magical twinkling sound and a puff of magical energy as MAY BELL appears on the dresser.
MAY BELL
I heard you were going to GemCon? I love gems! Can I come along and look at the gems? Not steal them! Just… look at them.
GINNY
It’s a tabletop gaming convention, and I’ll be way too busy to bust a pixie out of jail. I’m doing two panels, both on Saturday — one with some other tabletop musicians, and one Q&A with fellow YouTubers.
MAY BELL
(pouts) No fun!
The door opens and CLOVER enters holding a SUITCASE.
CLOVER
Au contraire, my winged friend! It sounds like fun, I think!
I’m all packed for GinCon — it’s my favorite thing to drink.
GINNY
No, Clover, it’s not a convention for gin… although I might be ready for a drink after the GenCon Epic, on Friday. It’s a multi-table D&D adventure, and it’s sold out, so I’m sure it’ll be intense!
There’s a flushing sound as MORELIA exits the bathroom.
MORELIA
I agree, JamCon will certainly be intense. I’m looking forward to selling my new Mimic Marmalade at my booth!
GINNY
You don’t have a booth, I do! It’s booth 2635, and I’ll have merch for sale. Plus, I’ll be doing signings there on Thursday and Sunday at 1, and Saturday at 4.
She turns back to her suitcase and startles to see NYMWEN behind the bed with a satchel, traveling cloak on.
NYMWEN
I’m ready.
GINNY
Let me guess… you thought it was “GrimCon” or something and you want to come learn about new tombstone technology?
NYMWEN (deadpan)
Of course not. I love tabletop games. They bring me so much joy. Do you think they’ll let me take this arm through airport security? (holds up skeleton arm)

I remember stumbling on the "Life Of Brian" screenplay at my middle school library and it felt like a hidden (and slightly forbidden) treasure. Writing nerd question, which you may have already responded to someplace else, do you use script writing software or just a standard word processing app of personal preference?

2023-07-28 20:50:15 +0000 UTCMay Bell could be distracted by the shiny dice (depending on who is selling, there may be some gemstone based dice) and of course Gencon has a large number of adults, so Gin-con could be a new part of the convention (although when Ginny is there, Gencon is actually GinnyCon)
