Sunmakers concept art - Chummon and Evergreen
Added 2021-01-16 07:00:02 +0000 UTCA preview of two plant based sapient species for Sunmakers. These creatures are a mix of flora and fauna. Or as I later dubbed them; Flaura.
The chummon, together with the Mau, are the oldest species in terms of when I first came up with them. I wanted an intelligent, squid/octopus based race that would use machines to protect their frail bodies. Their design did not change much over the years. But they will likely get a final make over before they appear in the story.
The evergreen concepts shown above are very outdated and their current design looks almost nothing alike. However, I still wanted to show where the idea for them started. Obvious wendigo inspirations for this species.

No, I did not. I never played subnautica. The chummon were inspired by the terachnoids from Ratchet&Clank. Even though they are not very similar.

2021-01-16 19:00:50 +0000 UTCThe Evergreen looks like it will be incredibly massive, as well as incredibly destructive, even if that's an old concept. The Chummon/Mau, however remind me a little of Subnautica. Did you draw any inspiration from the creatures there by chance?
