Fall Campaign Load

Hey there Patrons!

This update is going to be a bit short. I was out at MrMouton's wedding last week (of Tombs of Scoria, The Lazarus Expedition, Desperate Measures, and so much more), and came home having contracted some plague that has laryngitis as a component, so I'm trying to take it easy. So without further ado, let's talk about what we'll be seeing in the fall quarter!

Rise of Drekis x2
We've just talked about Chapter 2: Outpost on the Frontier, but we haven't talked about Chapter 3. There will be a future post on the details of that coming soon, but for now let us say that the two campaigns are likely to run concurrently - that is to say happening at the same time. It's looking like they'll even be back to back on the same day!

Chapter 3 is, as of the time of this writing, going to deal with Drekisian spies in Bravo, and is likely to have a very familiar cast!

Both of these campaigns will likely run through to the end of the year. They are closed storylines, but I'm not sure how long they will take.

Save or Die: Outcasts
With The Lazarus Expedition wrapped up (mostly), we're moving onto our next campaign with is going to be a multi-chapter, open ended, sandbox game set in Solum. We'll start near The Devouring Marsh (seen in Dicing with Death and Tombs of Scoria), and see where the campaign takes us. There's been some map making already as set up to this, but we'll be streaming a lot more of it in the coming weeks.

Our first session was already played, but hasn't been broadcast yet. That's because it was an IRL session we played at the aforementioned Mr.Mouton's Wedding! And let me tell you folks, we had a great time. I'm not sure if it'll come across well in the broadcast, since this is our first time filming an IRL show and between the space, the camera placements, the pinned mics, and all the other tech issues that have yet to crop up. Already I've identified some changes that I would make if we were going to do such a thing again (and we'd very much like to), but this was a great first run and just so much fun. This was also a great opportunity for us to get the crew together in the flesh to socialize, shoot the shit, pass around ideas, and do some team building.

Hopefully the first session will hit the internet in a week or so from this post. The production side for a live events is waaaaaaaaay more complicated than our normal streaming.

This campaign is 2nd edition, AD&D (2.neal really) and should run on for... well until everyone dies or retires! There's a lot of ideas about things we could do, how we might be able to build in story arcs with breaks, having shorter campaigns with other characters during those breaks, having time pass in the world so the campaign spans years in world, and a lot more. We're very much in the brainstorming, eyes are bigger than our stomachs, anything is possible, phase of early game. We'll see what actually develops, but based on the first session it's gonna be fun. It's gonna be reaaaal fun.

Cosmo's Kitchen
One of the things that came out of our weekend at the wedding was some cool Cosmo's Kitchen ideas. There are a bunch of guests that have expressed interest, and even a potential game with a full cast of very special guests that I don't want to jinx by saying too much on.

Director's Commentary
The Lazarus Expedition is done (mostly), but the Director's Commentary for it is not! August / September are always crazy busy, and so I've fallen behind schedule on producing this content, but it will be coming out over the next few weeks.

Once that is done, there's a backlog of sessions that people have been requesting I do commentaries for that I would like to start doing. Head on over to the Reddit thread and leave suggestions for what you'd like to see Director's Commentary sessions for.

Playlist for the public Director's Commentary episodes of The Lazarus Expedition

Those of you who are Critical Feedback tier and higher patrons can check out the #CriticalFeedback discord channel for links to the remaining episodes that the general public doesn't have yet. It's a pinned post if you can't find it. If you're having trouble, ping me or any of the mods for help.

Other Games?!
I've been approached by two other groups who are interested in campaigning, but since nothing is solid yet, I'm not going to bother with any details. There's a lot that can go wrong between "hey Koibu, will you run a game for us" and the game actually happening, but it is worth mentioning that there are pots simmering on the backburners (have fun with the idiom ESL speakers).

Lastly, there's someone that I'd like to reach out to for some D&D content that i think would be fun, but is also wildly unlikely to happen. File this under Hope and Dreams.

Summary
We'll be having at least 3 regular campaigns running starting by the end of September / Early October that will run through at least the end of the year. There will be some one shots scattered throughout, as well as Director's Commentary for at least The Lazarus Expedition. There's the potential for a few more campaigns to launch, and a long shot of someone that I'd like to work with.

Final Thought
Rise of Drekis deserves some special mention in all of this. This is the first time in years that I've put together a campaign based on what I wanted to run, and hand selected the people to run it. None of the Rise of Drekis sub campaigns are pay to play for the PCs. While I do love having a group approach me and say, "we're friends who want to play D&D and have some ideas about what we want", Rise of Drekis is something special.

This production format is something I would like to do more of. I would love to hand pick selected casts, have auditions again, and run campaigns ideas that break the traditional molds. Content like this is only possible because of supporters like you who subscribe to Patreon, Twitch, or YouTube (coming soon).

Your support is what makes this type of campaigning possible, and I cannot thank you enough for being here on this ride with me. ♥
