Daily Update 8/27

This is just a quick update to let you know what I am working on, Coding... lots and lots of coding.... and making image buttons... and a fuckton more coding.

So far today I have written 2000 lines of code, and still have not finished the code for just the ground floor of the house. See my dumb ass instead of just converting my existing house code to the new images. Was like......"Hmm... well things like there being 2 stairs on the ground floor, and different room names is going to make this a bit of a challenge to convert. So why not just start fresh and recode the house from the gound up since I am remaking it from the ground up anyways.....?" Yea... it is a dumb idea I know, One thing I have been doing with this coding though I am honestly not even sure that I will like and may end up removing anyways. Which is exit points for rooms. The way things were before it was you are in a room, you press the back arrow, and your back into the hall. Now I am trying to code it with a more 3D feel to it so its: Look left, Look Right, Turn Around, Walk Forward. So and so forth, and when you are in a room say the kitchen for example, you walk into the kitchen from the East Wing of the first floor, so you would walk in, talk to someone in the room, then click the arrow to turn around, then click the door to leave the room. Which while sure it may be adding more immersion I also feel like it may just be adding extra clicking for no reason? IDK you guys will have to let me know on that.

But at the same time I am also working on a bit of a map redesign, so before there was the Map and the House Map. I am going to be changing how the coding works for that so that if you are in the house and click the map, you can teleport to anywhere you want in the house. Or click a world map icon which lets you teleport around the city as per the usual. With that sort of setup I feel like it would bypass the annoyance players may feel when it comes down to clicking to many times to get around. While at the same time, laying the foundation for the alternate cities coming up in the future updates. It would just be a Layered map. Home>City>World. Thoughts?

My goal for today is to have the coding done for first floor, but I keep finding image buttons I missed, and forcing myself to stop coding and make those images. I am actually very close to finishing the coding for the ground floor though, all thats left is the Living Room, Dining Room, and Bathroom/changing room. Then I will be able to go into the game and test the navigation out to see if I hate the turn around click door thing enough to remove it or not, since I havent even tested it yet lol.

OH YEAH!!! I just remembered something, when this update comes out you NEED to make absolutely sure that you save OUTSIDE THE HOUSE! AND NOT IN THE ENTRANCE TO THE OFFICE EITHER! As the entire houses code and the entrance to the office will be recoded as well. So if you have your game saved there just go somewhere else real quick and throw down a save. When the code changes it will 100% corrupt a save if you saved in the place that the code is changed. If you take a second before installing the new version and toss a save outside, in town somewhere there will be no issues with your saves whatsoever. I will also be posting this again when I release the update to hopefully mitigate the upset players. I am also probably going to toss out a save with the update just to make sure.
