G'day, lad πŸ”₯ I'll update it now for everybody πŸ‘ Apologies for the wait.

Excel LADZ

is it anyways we can update this?

G

Thank you!

Jeremy Yap

G'day lad, welcome πŸ”₯ Good to have you in the community πŸ’ͺ There's no difference. I've made 3 separate posts on the Patreon about the NBA Rebound model I built, however they all contain the same file. The earliest post was an early release (exclusive to Patrons), the next an article explaining in-depth of how the model was built, and the last post (this one) accompanying the video I posted to YouTube. Don't hesitate to ask anymore questions lad!

Excel LADZ

Hello! What's the difference between this model and the one posted on February 8?

Jeremy Yap

My mistake lad, I was referring to the β€˜Excel LADZ - 2024 NBA Model’; this model oils specifically made to project rebounds. In the overall NBA Model, a team’s simulated points for a match is made up of the sum of each player’s simulated points. instead of running the overall team score in the β€˜Simulations’ worksheet, you can run a specific player’s points scored. This way, you can use the SUMPRODUCT function to measure how often (as a percentage of the total simulations) a player scores under/over a specific figure πŸ’ͺ

Excel LADZ

How do you switch it to points ? lol I might have missed that part of the tutorial

Hi lad, unfortunately not dedicated models yet. Player points can be simulated using the NBA Model, but assists are currently not in the equation. This will definitely be an update I’ll make for next season πŸ‘

Excel LADZ

Is there a model for other things like points , assist , etc ?

Norvin Clifton

Awesome! Now I gotta figure out how to apply this to NFL :D

I absolutely agree lad πŸ”₯ I suggest having a look at this video: https://youtu.be/WBqpxYZeSU4

Lad - it does help. I didn't think about reducing the minutes on a player who might be injured - that's a great tip. I was thinking though, perhaps in other models (like the NBA Model or even the NFL ELO Model, if there was a way to account for key players getting injured that might make accuracy even better!

Hi lad, this model takes into account the player's average rebounds, the overall rebounding strength of their opponent, whether the match is home/away and the expected PACE of the game. If you want to adjust a player's Expected Minutes Played, you can change this figure in cell N2. This way, if a player is "in doubt" for the match, you could halve their xMP to represent the decreased probability of them playing. This model currently doesn't take into account 'matchups', so if an opposition player is injured, it won't impact the selected player's xRebounds. I hope that answered your question lad πŸ‘

Excel LADZ

Any thoughts on how we can account for injuries within this model?
