Your thoughts on Will made me think of something my Mom had told me, many years ago. She said the pain of mourning the loss of someone who is still alive is worse than the pain of mourning the loss of someone who has died. I, now, understand what she meant by that. I wonder if you are feeling the pain of mourning? Your love for Will was genuine and sweet. It is understandable how you would feel a great loss because you only wanted what was best for him. Maybe it would help you if you were to reach out, and let Will know you will always be there if the time ever comes he needs a friend. It is never easy being the person to reach out when you are the person who was hurt so badly. I think it might help you to ease the pain of the loss. There could come a day when Will will be like the son in the story, the Prodigal Son, and I can promise you you will never regret having extended the so called olive branch. I wish, with all my heart, Will could have seen what was so evident....you only wanted the best for him. Will is young, and wisdom comes with life experience. Don't give up on him, but at the same time don't quit trying to heal your pain. You didn't fail him. Love you Dan.
