I've only ever used them for cutting so a couple grains of salt may be required, but the heat profile of the flame cones is different for propane, the hottest part is further away from the nozzle than with acetylene. Although if you're using an acetylene nozzle, the kind with the 6 holes in the end, I don't know what it would do to it. Hopefully it all works out.
