Experiments in Free Horror Movie Podcast Hosting
Added 2019-11-11 07:10:26 +0000 UTCSo this NSFW Podcast me and my friends do is, for the moment, just for fun, so I am experimenting with what is the most hassle free way of A/ Hosting it and B/ making it so it has an RSS type function. Lo And Behold the answer was hiding under my big stupid nose the entire time. I have made a second Patreon account for the Podcast because A/ I couldn't find any evidence that Patreon limits you to a certain amount of free uploads and B/ THE RSS link is built in "Copy Paste the link into your favorite podcasting app". I, not having a phone, can't test it, so before I start posting around the place about this thing if one of you guys who presumably knows what an RSS is (I don't really understand what it is if I'm being honest) could test it and see does it working you would be doing me a real solid. Everything is set to free/public, so all it will cost you is time presumably!

I might do that in the future, be less forthcoming with the RSS links, but while this thing is in its infancy I'm more concerned withg spreading the word that it actually exists kinda thing.

It is, as the name implies, a format to make syndication realatively easy/simple and because it is so easy to implement, it has become a widespread format. Because it is wide spread, lots of applications to read rss files have popped up and are commonly called "rss readers" (there is also another commonly used name for 'em but I can't remember what it is). A lot of sites will give unique rss links to users (I'm guessing either to curb abuse (think using the rss link to ddos patreon) or to make it so if someone stops suppprting a creator the link can be invalidated), so it is probably best not to publicly share your rss link.
