2019-08-11 06:32:11 +0000 UTCWho doesn’t like being scared sometimes!
Garrett
2019-08-05 06:45:12 +0000 UTCHe really does. Especially now that he has [Aura Synergy].
Garrett
2019-08-05 06:44:23 +0000 UTCRain really needs to level up his offensive aura's they've been kept so low for so long, and he's got the ability to get both of them to level 10 pretty quickly. Hopefully this dungeon delve should help out with that.
Critical Hit
2019-08-04 13:59:00 +0000 UTCInteresting that there's a war going on now; a war is one of the situations where Rain's abilities are actually massively useful... Hm, who is the war *with*, anyway? It would be scary if the opponent were to be the Empire...
Elaborate
2019-08-04 11:55:27 +0000 UTCah, thank you, sorry, that was bugging me that i couldn't figure it out~
MagicWafflez
2019-08-04 01:07:18 +0000 UTCOne tick per second. The equipment thing I will explain in story eventually. For now, unless it lists the resistance as an enchantment, it won't show up. It will still help if you get hit on that piece of equipment. The armor takes damage instead of you, up to a point. Depends on the damage type and the armor.
SenescentSoul
2019-08-04 00:44:52 +0000 UTCspeaking of resistances. They seem to be percentage based on the sheet, but also have a flat value. Is that flat value a flat damage reduction value? Is that updated when you wear armor/enchanted clothes? Would mundane materials block force damage? Also, do aura's deal damage in second long tics, or how many instances of damage do they actually do over the course of a second? Each instance would be decreased by the flat damage reduction right?
Critical Hit
2019-08-04 00:11:52 +0000 UTCHasn't been explained within the story, only hinted at. It is within established mechanics. Damage reduction from enchantments, mundane materials blocking auras somewhat, health boosting skills, aura travel time, etc. One thing about auras is that they don't do all the damage at once. A little flat DR goes a long way.
SenescentSoul
2019-08-03 23:54:42 +0000 UTCIn that case, any chance I can get an explanation as to why Refrigerate which deals 39.5 damage on average normally, used with Amplify aura and Channel Mastery dealing 92.43 damage per second, used for "less than 30 seconds" so let's say 20 second, for 1848.6 damage, somehow only barely brought Val to half health in chapter 30? Because that's been bugging me.
Critical Hit
2019-08-03 23:42:50 +0000 UTCHaha! You still get a cookie.
SenescentSoul
2019-08-03 23:04:52 +0000 UTCdangit. I was ninjaed.
Critical Hit
2019-08-03 23:03:01 +0000 UTCAlright, its definitely not adding them together. Pretty sure what's happening is that when he checks his mana regen, its pre aura synergy, between the two blue boxes he puts his points into aura synergy, which is where that 52% comes from, instead of 50%. If you go with a 50% increase, which is the actual boost he's getting from Winter, and multiply that by the 90% Amplify and the 30% channel mastery (not aura focus, because that requires him to give up his senses while he does it and that's not something he did at the time, so it could be higher) you get a 124% increase. With aura synergy in place it goes up to 128% though.
Critical Hit
2019-08-03 23:02:06 +0000 UTCOooh, this was a good one. I just spent 30 minutes hunting for the bug in my code until I realized what was going on. It is correct as written. Rain checks his statistics _before_ he takes aura synergy: 0.5 * 1.9 * 1.3 = 124% He then takes it, which changes the result to: 0.50 * 1.033 * 1.9 * 1.3 = 128%
SenescentSoul
2019-08-03 22:56:33 +0000 UTC... the... sum? ... in ch 32 .... how? 90%[amplify] + 30%[aura focus] + 52%[winter]=172% what combination gave 124%? 190% x 130% x 152% = 375% is what i thought it should be, but if they add two eachother instead of multiply... i... can't figure it out, can someone give me an equation that works?
MagicWafflez
2019-08-03 22:14:26 +0000 UTCCorrect.
SenescentSoul
2019-08-03 18:36:50 +0000 UTCIsn’t that just the sum of all currently active modifiers? Usually winter and its upkeep cost.
Chymor
2019-08-03 16:54:15 +0000 UTChey author, will you give us the equation you're using for the modifier column? because I'm having the damnedest time figuring it out >.<;
MagicWafflez
2019-08-03 16:33:49 +0000 UTCnah, wouldn't. he's saying tallheart won't be coming in to fight, so they're gonna do a 4 way split between the 4 fighters
MagicWafflez
2019-08-03 16:28:53 +0000 UTCeh, the goal is less to speed them up, and more to level something. using more mana is a good thing. and in any case, once he's capped, a 20% move buff will cost 60 mana a minute which means he can keep it going for an hour. so, not too bad. it will be even better when he gets prismatic intent, since he could keep up 50% indefinitely with winter active then. tho that's for much later when he gets his cap higher again
MagicWafflez
2019-08-03 15:44:09 +0000 UTC"I told him Tallheart ***WOULDN'T*** be coming">*WOULD*?
Required
2019-08-03 10:05:02 +0000 UTCWithout [Aura IFF] the well auras are actually a little underwhelming. As they level and their range gets bigger the more entities are effected and the more diffused the gains become. That’s not even going into the fact that the frontline fighters that would need healing from [Life Well] would also be near enemies who would also benefit. The dark hounds don’t seem to use mana so it’s fine to spam [Essence Well] in the mine but long term, he needs iff asap.
Garrett
2019-08-03 09:50:04 +0000 UTCHaving Ameliah around will be valuable, but it does reduce the short-term utility of going for Life Well. The long-term utility is still good, and some redundancy is not bad, but... At least, he can relax a bit about getting and levelling the [summer] aura; levelling it or the IFF Aura first is no longer a dilemma.
Elaborate
2019-08-03 09:02:17 +0000 UTC@Magicwafflez: the velocity aura has huge potential as a means to improve his defense and attack (just run around or run away while having a aura up and he can kill) but the necessary experience needed to use it makes it impractical for horses IMO.
tibbish
2019-08-03 06:27:57 +0000 UTCYeah Stamina and Health auras would be the 2 big ones for combat for himself and a team. Even if he gets IFF soon he needs to be able to fight off or defend against attackers as does the rest of his team and those 2 auras are priceless for keeping himself and his team going.
tibbish
2019-08-03 06:26:08 +0000 UTCProbably [Essence Well]. Thats going to be his most useful skill in the mine, and since its only rank 1 it'll level fast. Plus, he'll want more time to pick up exp and level his skills, going faster isn't really to his benefit. Unless he want's to show off I guess.
Garrett
2019-08-03 04:27:14 +0000 UTCIt can imply a lot of things. Maybe she thinks she set him up for failure because he';s copying her and she had an org behind her to get her setup to where she is. Maybe she's a Paladin and thinks he's copying her and thats Not Good Without Being Sanctioned. Maybe Purity is a holdover from something else in her life like the Beacons and she wonders if someone suggested abilities to him in a way to hamper/cripple/indebt him to them.... there's a lot of reasons.
Keifru
2019-08-03 03:42:15 +0000 UTC... it implies one of 2 things to me, (or both). 1. asking about people's skills is extremely rude, and she's essentially asking about them... which, should be done delicately. 2. he just mentioned that he chose 2 obscenely expensive AOE skills as his method for protecting himself. not knowing he is a dynamo, she is trying to ask for an explanation for that decision without being judgemental. (girl mage in training kind of scoffed about refrigerate, remember?)
MagicWafflez
2019-08-03 03:38:15 +0000 UTC“I see...” Ameliah said guardedly. “Maybe you should fill me in on the details.” <- that implies *something*. What, exactly, is up to anyone's guess, but something nonetheless
Keifru
2019-08-03 03:12:44 +0000 UTC... i wonder if a 20% move buff would hurt the horses? i wouldn't want them to stumble,,, but,,, he could totally keep a 20% buff for about 20 minutes... he's gonna have to practice something during the trip, so it's either that, essence well, or detection aura...
MagicWafflez
2019-08-03 01:57:01 +0000 UTCeh, he wasn't really guarded, ya? more like he didn't have time to explain
MagicWafflez
2019-08-03 01:54:59 +0000 UTCI wonder if Ameliah will have any info on some Hidden Aura skills?
Call0013
2019-08-03 00:55:51 +0000 UTCGreat chapter, I was literally just wondering last night when Ameliah would come back.
Raveve
2019-08-03 00:15:10 +0000 UTCAww yiss, Ameliah back in the picture! Although her being guarded about the whole aura stuff is (!!!) can't wait to see what unfolds
Keifru
2019-08-03 00:04:56 +0000 UTCYup, ish. It isn't specified explicitly. Height, also not specified, but around 180cm.
SenescentSoul
2019-08-03 00:00:19 +0000 UTC... xD little mouse, that's so cute~ how tall is our MC anyway? he's around 24/26 years old ya?
MagicWafflez
2019-08-02 23:54:21 +0000 UTCeh, with Amelia there, a silver rank adventurer (at least lvl 25) with a healing skill.... they'd have to be pretty incompetent to die.
MagicWafflez
2019-08-02 23:53:13 +0000 UTCAgain thanks for the epub. Another person I subscribe to is trying PDFs right now, it's absolute murder. Thanks
Seadrake
2019-08-02 23:49:07 +0000 UTCVal was actually quite civil this time, it seems once he has something to focus on he stops picking on Rain. He's sure got himself a great group though. I hope not too many of them die off in the lair (if any).

2019-08-02 23:03:28 +0000 UTCThanks for the chapter. I have to say you’re doing a great job with showing character development (as opposed to ‘telling’ character development, if that makes any sense). It’s a hard thing to do in this genre, so keep up the good work!
