Patreon Rewards Poll

Sorry, it's not a chapter. I know, I know.

What kind of Patreon/Discord structure do people want?

Hopefully this poll works correctly. First time trying one. You should be able to vote for more than one thing if I've set it up correctly. Any other suggestions, leave a comment.

The only real suggestion I would make for the discord is to add an "Announcements" channel and an "Updates" channel. Updates are exactly that, where you only post when a chapter update is released. The announcement page is specifically when you have something to tell everyone. both of these channels should have commenting off so you are the only person talking.

Thanks everyone for voting. I've decided to do something that wasn't even on the list! (Gasp! He can do that?) I'm adding additional tiers for those that want to give more, but are having trouble with Patreon's interface. There's been a little confusion about that for whatever reason. There will be no additional rewards for the higher tiers, not even discord bling. Why no rewards for giving more? As I've said before, I don't want to coerce anybody into spending more than they want to, even if it means I end up with less money in the end. It's a 'pay what you want' kind of deal.

you'll get more money with more tiers. Some of the other patreon authors on royal road are successful that way (e.g. the first defier, wake of the ravager). Being generous doesn't work since most people are inherently selfish and will pick options that benefit them and not you. So the question is, what do you want? If you want to be paid for your work, then tiers are necessary. For example, Nobody103 doesn't have tiers and he doesn't get a lot of money compared to other authors because people are donating out of kindness since he doesn't offer early chapters.

Having a discord makes it much easier to find answers to questions or enjoy talking about a chapter that you found to be amazing.

The-Anti-Akuma

In that context it makes sense.

The discord is not something to influence the author or even a big reward (non patreons can join too btw). It is simply an easy way for fans to connect with each other, discuss the plot etc. I was the one who actually asked for Discord roles, simply because it helps to see who is at which point of the story.

I feel that I might be a minority here, but I'm kind of against authors having discords. I'm here on patreon because I want to support you as an author, not because I think adding money into it will give me a say in your writing. Even if the discord is just for hanging out and discussing your fiction, I've seen in the past how it can turn into something else when the story takes a turn that people take exception with. But then again, maybe I'm wrong. For me it's enough to simply support you in your art and in return I get to enjoy said art. I feel that this is a more than fair exchange.
