I still can't figure out what pud is, so I really don't know what pud pie is. Pie is anything made in a pie tin.

For instance a pasta bake is NOT a pie because the material is the same the whole way through, although the process of filling creates a difference in texture, the starting ingredients before it is placed in the oven are equal throughout. But if a conscious effort is made to place a filling inside a casing whether that be a full pastry or capped with mash potato then in that case, it is turned into a pie
