Sprite scenes VS Regular scenes

Hey folks, as you probably noticed in the past few builds we released a lot of new sprite scenes and fewer regular scenes than usual. The last regular scene was Build 33's Yela scene, and it only had a single small part (if we ignore Samara's rework).

We would like to know your opinion of them, as well as clarify why we use them and our future plans with them.

First of all, our regular smut scene format is still our primary focus, and we are constantly working on several of them in parallel at different stages of development. In fact we have several of them finished in advance, mainly for Gold & Sand, but also for Avarice. They do take a lot of time to produce, but we think it's worth the effort in the end.

Meanwhile sprites scenes are quite easier and faster to produce, but they actually serve different in-game purpose beyond that. For example each companions is going to have at least 4 repeatable scenes for variety, which we could never achieve with regular scenes. And in build 36, the sprite scenes format allows us to nicely integrate them into the location.

For the future, we have 8 more sprite scenes already planned and drawn (4 for Scylla and 4 for Osh'to), and nothing beyond that at the moment. We may add more when we feel they fit a quest, but all the other scenes we are currently planning / animating are regular animated scenes so far.

So we'd like to know your opinion of them in the comments.

The sprite scenes are great, I hope the production team can add other character scenes, such as Shaman.

Sprite scenes are good, and I don't mind their inclusion. Regular scenes are always going to be better because of their obvious increase in production quality and detail, but I think having sprite scenes interspersed amongst them strikes a good balance. Not every romp needs to be a long, drawn out, intimate thing.

I have considered unsubscribing from the patreon due to the increasingly numerous sprite scenes and the lack of normal scenes. I'd much prefer no more sprite scenes, which I think add very little to the game and the time and resources go to normal ones.

Indeed, all very good points made from the earlier comments.....maybe we can have a repeatable sprite scene for a certain demon :D. I'd also like to thank you guy's for putting the effort you do into this game. The story is actually interesting and the gameplay is fun. Not to mention the excellent artwork all around.

I concur with what's already been said. The regular scenes are best for when there's a proper dialogue between the characters or if it's part of a major story moment but for repeatable quickies with little to no dialogue, sprite scenes are great and probably a more efficient use of time. Getting to see the animation happen in the actual overworld rather than in a pocket dimension like the regular scenes is also a major benefit in my books, and probably my favourite thing about sprite scenes.

Regular scenes can make for intimate moments, while sprite scene can be as repeatable quickies.

Regular scenes are almost always going to be a much more immersive and intimate experience when compared with sprite scenes. However, I believe sprite scenes have an important place as well. I thought that the latest beta showcased some real potential with sprites; offering a bit more dynamics to the player in their point and click world. I'm near certain that there is a perfect ratio between the two that the team will figure out with more time and implementation.
