TalKing of the Hill - Any Given Hill-Day

This month, we're jumping from season four to season 14 to finally discuss King of the Hill's long-teased and long-awaited reboot. (But never fear; we're returning to the proper production order next time.) Listen in and learn how this new season came into being—and how we were kinda in on the ground floor—get to know the creative staff behind it, and find out just what happened to our favorite Arlenians over the past 15 years... or was it nine? No matter how complicated the new timeline is, we're just happy to be back!
Hey guys. Love the work you do. I never left a comment on one of your episodes on Patreon before, but since you sparsely check the Discord server, I thought I'd give some info for the upcoming episode "Transnational Amusements Presents".
First off, I’m happy that this show recognizes that there’s a difference between having a fetish (sexual curiosity) and having a kink (sexual activity). They don’t use the words interchangeably like so many people. Second, there's a book I thought about recommending you. I figured you probably don't know much about fetish stuff, so without getting too Internet specific, I recommend the book "Deviant Desires". (It had a very eye-catching cover in its first edition, but the expanded one from 2012 is a bit more professional; has a big lady leg on it).
Katherine Gates, the lady who wrote it, interviews a bunch of people who have esoteric fetishes. It’s a lot more self-aware and honest than you would expect. Take this quote from a guy who makes giantess art:
"It would be convenient for me to say that I do this work because I'm a feminist, that I want the woman to be big and important and I'm giving a powerful role model to the world. But that's bullshit. This is not about women. This is about men and their fantasies."
Then there's this one guy about his body inflation fetish:
"Ordinary erotica does very little for me. I've always believed that if you're going to fantasize about something, you shouldn't waste your imagination trying to make it realistic. If you want realism, you should be out doing it, not sitting there dreaming about it."
Overall, I have no idea what the fetish game was like back when this episode originally aired, but if it’s anything like what's depicted in it, I think certain aspects have progressed for the better. I don’t even have to go to DeviantArt to say I’m 100% sure plenty of people would find Peggy’s feet sexy without her having to step in food.
Also worth noting that even with stuff like this, you will find plenty of women and queer people consensually making and/or looking at this stuff, especially when it comes to drawn art. In some cases, it's a case of them just working out through trauma and/or some form of dysphoria they experienced in their lives.
I hope this comment reaches you and that life is treating you well.

I was at the Husky Bobby live table read as well! Henry/Bob, I’m curious if you remember this the same way — as I recall it, someone asked in the Q&A session if Hank would have voted for Trump and Mike Judge said he didn’t think he could have, that he would have either stayed home or written someone else’s name in (he might have even mentioned John McCain).
I’ve brought this up multiple time over the years anytime the “would Hank support Trump?” discourse appeared online so I hope you can verify 🙏

I was so, so, SO pleased with how great this revival turned out. It's probably my favourite show revival since Twin Peaks: the Return (though frankly how many GREAT or even GOOD revivals have we gotten?) and it's kind of soured any lingering excitement I had for new Futurama because of how overall mid that's been. I'm not really into the Bobby/Connie ship, but I'm at least glad they weren't just dating during the time jump or something and have drifted a way a bit, so it's not straight up the "soulmates since childhood" Boy Meets World kind of trope, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt at this point. It really sucks that we lost Johnny Hardwick and Jonathan Joss both in general AND so close to release in Jonathan's case, but at least we got to hear a little bit more of them as their beloved characters, and a bittersweet tribute to each. I wish these goddamn season orders weren't so short, ESPECIALLY with half-hour shows because you can get through it too fast and then we'll have to wait ~12 months for more, but damn if I'm not excited for season 15.
