A Note on Pirates

A pirate has struck again and this time, this person targeted multiple IF authors which is how I came to realise the 12.1 version and all side stories were leaked. I've blocked the Patron who joined last month but there's always a chance they'll rejoin as a different person eventually.

Because of this, I've really had to rethink how to protect the game as best as I can for future updates. Something I've learnt is that itch.io is very unreliable regarding protection - even the password can be viewed by inspecting the web page which boggles my mind because it means anything can be viewed.

Changing game links has definitely helped with slowing down pirates and the only reason the game got leaked this time was because they joined as a paying Patron. As with the next update (battle scenes), expect an extra layer of security and links shared through the chats where I've been told that piracy sites can't scrape. It's a lot of effort but I don't see how else to best manage the rise of piracy without altogether not sharing the game online and just posting it on Steam when it's ready.

It is what it is for now. Thank you to those of you who are legitimate supporters. I'm really sorry that you're paying for something only to have vultures out there getting it for free. Hopefully the next security steps I take will help slow down the pirates a lot more.

On that note, if you are an Ishari Tier Patron - the game link has been changed. You won't need to restart the game since it's the same game file, but if you were still playing different paths, you might need to use the new link in case you run into errors with the old one.
