I thought I'd share how much variation is actually behind these small choices by showing you how each path will play out. As you can see from below, the path I'm currently working on is the bridge scene. From this, you can choose from combat, leadership, politics and divinity to respond to the attack. Each has stat tests and each has a fail, success and medium success outcome.
Am I enjoying the writing the many, tedious variations? No, because you won't see them unless you choose to blindly rush into battle with less-than-ideal stats. But I mean, if you want to fail, go ahead. No judgment here.
That said, you do not have to be a fighter to assist with the frontal attack on the bridge. You can inspire your troops or choose to persuade your enemies to lay down their weapons. And if you're feeling particularly close to the deities, you'll be able to fry them to a crisp because why not? It's a lot of work but slowly, we shall get there.
