Rpg Maker MZ v Rpg Maker MV
Added 2023-03-08 00:42:35 +0000 UTCMZ Pros:
- Cleaner Interface
- Updated command prompts
- Layer system
- HUD Plugin is revamped and much nicer to use and looks cleaner
- Generator makes nicer NPC's
- Constantly updated as it's newer
MZ Cons:
- Lack of plugins (I own a large majority of MV plugins, but none of the MZ ones)
MV Pros:
- A plethora of plugins
- Familiarity (I've used MV for so many years now...)
- Animations are simplistic
MV Cons:
- Outdated
- Slow and constantly crashes when too much happens
- Some plugins are optimised poorly and cause memory leaks
There's probably some more as well. I'm currently leaning towards MZ and I'll just bite the bullet and grab some of the plugins from VisuStella. But let me know what you guys think!
(If I knew how to 3D model properly, I'd skip both and use Unity..... maybe in the future ;) )

Yeah only have 1300 hours in MV. Can’t be that hard to migrate :P surelyyyyyy

2023-03-08 17:09:00 +0000 UTCSome are just quality of life things. Some mz does automatically which is nice. A few of the main plugins I use are free, so that’s kinda nice at least. I think MZ will lead to a better experience for the player…. (And it won’t crash randomly for me when I’m developing, looking at you MV)

2023-03-08 01:28:35 +0000 UTCIt actually depends on the plugins I'd say. If the plugins are necessary for a good experience that you wanna tell I'd say stick with MV, even though I like MZ as a player overall a bit more.
