Magical Spider chapter 60

If there was one thing that Harry had gotten much better at since being reborn into this world, it would be learning to control his emotions. It's not a practice that he needed mostly outside of school, but he did need to learn it, you'd kind of have to if you find yourself being reborn into another world with all of your loved ones left behind and then ending up in a new world where you had to go through the horrors of school and nappy training once more.
Right now, he had to use every bit of emotional control he had ever had and then some as he saw Wilson Fisk standing in his father's office. It galled him to no end that someone like Fisk, who had hurt so many people while profiting off of it, was allowed to live in a luxury penthouse while also being able to avoid justice that the common man simply couldn't. It also pissed him off beyond belief that the man thought he could come into Harry's home - into his father's office - like he had any right not to be rotting in a jail cell.
If Fisk noticed Harry's dislike of him, then he didn't show it, simply staring at Harry for a moment before speaking.
"I am currently discussing some business with your father," Fisk said, staring down at Harry.
"Business, huh?" Harry asked lightly. "Are you interested in a partnership with Oscorp, Mr Fisk?"
"Something like that," Fisk said with a small smirk.
"I imagine it'd be good publicity for you, after those accusations that have been made," Harry continued in the same tone. "I imagine that it would do wonders for your reputation to be so publically aligned with Oscorp."
"Indeed," Fisk said in an agreeable tone. "It'll help the world to see that I am nothing more than a humble businessman with nothing more than the best interests of my city and its people. Now, would you like to join us in our discussion? I'm sure that a young mind such as yours could offer a unique perspective."
"I don't really think that's necessary, do you, Fisk?" Norman said in a calm voice. To everyone, he likely looked like the perfect picture of calmness, but Harry had seen the way his eyes tightened slightly; he knew that his father was not happy right now.
"If you insist, Norman, but I can't help but feel..." Wilson trailed off when Harry suddenly placed the back of his hand on Fisk's stomach. Everyone in the room stopped and stared at him. Harry, ignoring the stares, very slowly unbuttoned Fisk's suit jacket and touched the waistcoat that Fisk was wearing.
"Harry," Norman called. Harry simply looked up at Fisk.
"Tell me, Mr Fisk, why does someone who wishes to be nothing more than a 'humble businessman' have a bullet-proof suit?" Harry asked before smiling up at him. "Though I suppose 'resistant' would be a better description, as nothing is ever truly capable of stopping all bullets. And if I'm not mistaken, this will help against any pesky stabbing attempts that one may encounter. Though, if I may say, if you wanted the best, then you should have gone to Oscorp. We've made great strides when it comes to protective armour."
"Are you advertising?" Norman couldn't help but ask.
"Is there anything wrong with keeping oneself safe from threats?" Fisk asked Harry, seemingly unbothered. "I have lived in the city since before you were born, young man. I know exactly how dangerous it can be." He said, his tone slightly darker than before. "I think perhaps we will finish our conversation another time," He said to Norman before staring back at Harry. "You're an intelligent boy, perhaps a little naive. You remind me of my son."
"Is that a compliment?" Harry asked genuinely.
"He tried to kill me once," Fisk said, sounding unsure himself. "But he was brilliant in most ways." Fisk nodded to him before turning and walking out of the room, followed by Wesley, who barely glanced at Harry. Once the door had closed behind them, Harry took in a deep breath and turned to face his father, who had apparently done the same.
"I don't appreciate my meetings being interrupted, Harry," Norman chided.
"Why on Earth were you meeting with that tosspot anyway?" Harry asked incredulously.
"Harry,"
"You know who he is," Harry continued. "He was all over the news,"
"And he was deemed innocent," Norman pointed out. Harry scoffed and walked over to his desk before placing his hands on it and staring right at his father.
"You look me right in the eye and tell me you are willing to bet your life and mine on the fact that man is 'innocent, '" Harry challenged. His father stared at him but didn't say anything. "That's what I thought. Dad, I love you, but you cannot associate with this man. What if you get hurt? What if Mum gets hurt?"
"I'd never allow your mother to get hurt," Norman glared, looking offended.
"I wasn't aware that you could catch bullets," Harry snorted. "Dad, Oscorp is one of the best - if not the best - companies out there, even beating Stark Industries in several fields."
"Why are you advertising to me?"
"We do not need Fisk and his band of trouble, making things worse for -"
"I know, Harry," Norman cut him off with a big sigh. "But I wouldn't worry about it too much. All that we've agreed upon is that Fisk will be creating another Oscorp building for use in Hell's Kitchen."
"But why him? Why not someone else?" Harry couldn't help but ask. "Someone who is not most likely a mass-murdering psychopath."
"Because the contract is already agreed upon, Son," Norman sighed. "Mister Fisk is willing to sign a contract where we barely have to pay him anything in comparison to any other company out here. As soon as Fisk's money is transferred this Monday, the contract becomes active, and we start working together. He'll just be making a building for us, nothing more and nothing less, Son. After that, if it truly bothers you, then we will cease to associate with him in the future, okay?"
"I..." Harry paused and stared at him for a few moments. "Okay, thanks, Dad." He said, dropping the folder he had on his Father's desk before walking out of the room. Once he closed the door, he paused and took a deep breath before pulling out his phone and calling Felicia.
"Yeah?" Her voice asked once he placed the phone to his ear.
"I need your help. How do you feel about joining me in stealing a lot of money and sabotaging an evil businessman?" Harry asked at once in a low voice.

"I want you," She said in a husky voice.

"So, to clarify, we're moving from the hero business to what? We're playing Robin Hood now?" Peter asked over the phone.
He had been half-asleep in bed when his phone rang. He had reached out and answered the call of his best friend, who had proceeded to explain to him exactly what had happened. Peter could admit that it sounded awful knowing that the man who was basically the big boss of crime had entered into your home and made a deal with your father. He couldn't imagine how he would have acted if it had been him.
"Something like that," Harry's voice replied over the phone, sounding quite tired. "Felicia and I are currently making plans. We spent the whole of yesterday looking over whatever information we could find. Once I'm done talking to you, we are both heading over to Gwen's place. We just need a way to have Fisk not pay up on time, and then I can have an alternative company swoop in and take the contract. I don't trust Fisk. If he wants to make something for us, then there's going to be some benefit for him."
"Besides the money, yeah," Peter agreed. "But Harry, how are you going to do that? You're not exactly Superman at the moment, you know."
"I've done a lot stupider with a lot less power." Harry replied. Peter had no idea what to say to that. "Felicia knows what she's doing, and I'm a quick learner; besides, I may not be Superman right now, but I still got my magic touch."
"Fair enough." Peter said thoughtfully, knowing that magic was a pretty good alternative to physical-based powers. "I'll eat breakfast with Aunt May and Uncle Ben, and then I'll meet up with you at Gwen's."
"Sounds good, Harry. I'll see you there." Peter replied before cutting the call, he let out a deep sigh before reluctantly forcing himself out of his comfy bed. One quick morning routine later, he was downstairs and eating breakfast with his aunt and uncle.
"So, Peter, are you doing anything today?" Uncle Ben asked. "I'm doing some work on the pipes upstairs, and I could do with another set of hands."
"Oh," Peter said awkwardly. "Umm...I'd really like to help you, Uncle Ben, really I would. But I'm kind of busy today, I'm heading over to Gwen's place."
"Oh, you and Gwen, huh?" Uncle Ben raised an eyebrow, a small grin on his face.
"Stop teasing him," Aunt May said, slapping Ben's arm.
"It's not like that, Uncle Ben," Peter said with a small chuckle. "Besides, she kind of has a thing for Harry."
"But... isn't Harry with that Felicia girl?" May asked with a confused frown.
"Don't ask me what's going on between those three," Peter said with a small huff. "The way I see it, Harry either dies alone or with multiple wives, there's no in between." He stated matter-of-factly.
"That's fine as long as he remembers that your aunt is off limits," Ben said jokingly, earning another arm slap from May, who looked more amused than anything. "But if I may ask, surely whatever you kids are doing can wait another few hours or even a day, right?"
"Um...well, it's kind of important work we're doing," Peter shifted in his seat slightly.
"Oh, and what's our little genius doing this time?" Aunt May asked, her eyes twinkling with pride as she stared at him.
"Well, we're working on a whole lot of stuff. In fact, Harry actually has one idea to help provide more money to lesser-known construction companies." Peter answered, smiling at his aunt who brightly smiled back at him.
"That's all well and good, Peter, but need I remind you that you are still a teenager?" Ben responded. "You don't need to spend your whole life working just yet."
"I know, but I want to," Peter replied. "We're doing good work, all of us. If we keep this up, then we can end up helping people; we could actually help people, Uncle Ben. We might make the world better, maybe just a tiny bit, but we could make it better. I think that's worth it. I don't think it's the sort of thing I should hold off to fix pipes that have developed problems for the fourth time this year. Besides, I thought you said that you were going to have them replaced after last time."
"Yeah, well, money is a little tight now, so we have to make do with what we have," Ben said with a small sigh.
"You know you could always take up Harry's offer." Peter suggested.
"I don't need a teenager to help me get a new job, Peter," Ben huffed.
"But he's not going to get you a new job, he's just going to put in a good word for you," Peter protested.
"Ben, there's nothing wrong with knowing the right people," May agreed. "It's not like Harry's just going to give you a job; you'll still have to interview like any other candidate, but he'll at least help you get a foot in the door."
"I've been walking on my own two feet my entire life so far, and I can keep doing so for the rest of it." Ben insisted.
"But you don't have to," Peter responded.
"That's enough, Peter,"
"Fine," Peter sighed. "Then I can pay for the pipes if you want."
"Excuse me?" Ben stared at Peter with obvious confusion.
"I can pay to replace the pipes." Peter replied. "I've got enough money from my work with Oscorp."
"If I'm not taking charity from your friend, why do you think I'll take it from you?" Ben asked, staring at Peter with slightly narrowed eyes.
"It's not charity," Peter protested. "It's not charity if I go and get some milk for everyone, so why is it charity if I pay to fix a problem in the house I live in? A house that my family lives in?"
"That's not your job, Peter," Ben insisted.
"It's yours, but you apparently can't do it," Peter replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Peter," May said in a warning tone.
"What?" Peter asked, staring between the two. "Am I wrong? Uncle Ben, you're in a job that is barely paying you enough for us to sustain ourselves. You haven't had any luck finding a better job, and when you have the opportunity to work for one of the most successful companies in the world, you turn it down because, apparently, you think it's charity. There are people out there who would kill for the chance to get a job like that."
"I didn't know that how we lived was so troublesome for you," Ben said, staring hard at Peter.
"I have no problem not being the richest family in the block, but when we have the chance to improve our lives and don't take it with both hands, then that's frankly stupid and wasteful." Peter stared back at Ben. "What if one of us gets into an accident? The hospital bill alone will wreck us. Besides, look at Aunt May; she's the best woman I've ever met in my life. She spent all of my life looking after both of us, and now she's working in a homeless shelter because that's all she does, she helps people. If I can't contribute, then that makes you the sole provider. Don't you think it's unfair for her to worry about bills because of your pride?"
"Peter, that's enough." May said softly.
"No, May, let the boy go keep talking," Ben said, not looking away from Peter. "I'd love to hear more about how I'm such a failure."
"I'm not trying to say that you're a failure," Peter said in a frustrated voice. "But it is undeniable -"
"No? Because that's what it feels like," Ben cut him off. "And once you're done, I'm sure you can go off to spend time with your rich friend. It won't be too long before you're like his father, another man in a suit and tie who doesn't give a damn about us mere mortals."
"I..." Peter trailed off before letting out a huff and standing up. "There's no point in talking to you, I'm going to go out; don't wait up." He said before turning and walking away, ignoring his aunt calling after him.

A.N: Hi guys, hope you enjoyed the chapter. There will be a few chapters before Harry's next confrontation with Shield if anyone's wondering. The next chapter will be mostly focused on Harry's magical abilities.
Also, the vote is nearly at an end and HP as Batman's son is still winning (Which I'm personally okay with), if you want to change that then you've got about three days or so left to change your vote.
And Ramadam Mubarak to any who happen to celebrate it, BTW.
Thanks for reading, feel free to leave a review.

Felicia sure is a randy one ain't she? I swear she seems like she is ready jump Harry's bones all the time. Seems like Gwen is getting there with her feelings for Harry as well. Nice to know that Pete doesn't dislike Harry for having the attention of both girls.

2025-03-02 18:06:33 +0000 UTCYeah, I'm taking the side with Peter on this one, it's ok to be self sufficient, but when the people that you love and care for depends on you, you gotta put your ego and pride in the back corner and accept the help or opportunities that may arrive.

2025-03-02 16:08:26 +0000 UTCWas wondering when the kinda blow up between Pete and Ben happened and unfortunately looks like that is here. Hopefully nothing bad will happen to Ben and Harry can save him, or if something does happen Harry will be there as a good friend and he would be most likely to seek out vengeance should the need arise.

2025-03-02 16:03:52 +0000 UTCAlso, look at how he gets upset when his nephew, worried about his family, wants to help. How does he react? Does he feel proud of his nephew who wants to help his family? No, instead of being happy because his nephew cares about his family, he immediately gets upset and feels insulted. You have to be an idiot. Many people may think that Ben Parker's words are nice, but everyone forgets that he wasn't the most fair person to listen to and talk to.

2025-03-02 14:19:19 +0000 UTCYeah he’s going to choke on that pride, he can’t see past it for making things better for the ones he loves, pride- why it’s one of the deadly sin, idiot

2025-03-02 13:58:14 +0000 UTCThanks for another really excellent chapter. And I agree with the other comment her, Ben is a proud man, but there’s a difference between having some personal pride and then letting that pride lead you into stupidity. It’s all right to want to stand on your own 2 feet but when you need help, and you refuse that helping hand, you have to accept the consequences of that. If it was just him on his own, those consequences would only be on him, but he has a family, so those consequences affect his family as well.

2025-03-02 13:55:35 +0000 UTCUncle Ben is a proud man. I can't deny that if he has stood on his own feet all his life, he doesn't want to depend on anyone. But there's a difference between that and protecting the family. At the end of the day, what matters is the family and when someone extends a helping hand to you, you accept it.
