OC born as James Potter test chapter

A.N: For the record, I'm not making this a story or anything, I just really wanted to post something today and didn't have much time so I thought I'd give you guys a test chapter for an idea I had. 

Plot: A man finds himself reborn in another world as one Harry James Potter, only without the Harry. Starts in marauder era. OC/lily.

Scene 1:

It was a weird thing, being reborn into another world, into another life. He often found himself remembering his old one, random memories of things he had done wrong, things he could have done better and things that were better than he initially remembered. He couldn't remember all of it, he couldn't tell you what his mother's name was or what his favourite TV show was or even how old he had been when he died. He only remembered bits and pieces. Thinking back on what he could remember of his old life, he found himself to be rather disappointed. He didn't feel like he had left the world while contributing anything of worth, he hadn't made his mark in that world.

But now he was in a new world with a fresh start. Not just any world, he was in the world of Harry Potter, a book series that he recalled reading, he was pretty sure that he had watched films based off the books but for some reason that was one of the things he couldn't remember. His knowledge of the Harry Potter world was odd, he knew the bare basics, there was magic and an evil villain that was going to eventually be defeated by the boy known as Harry Potter.

But he hadn't been reborn as Harry Potter, he had been born as James Potter. He was pretty sure that that was Harry Potter's father or something, it was rather frustrating not being allowed to remember anything. It almost felt as if someone or something had personally blocked his memories on that particular subject.

Either way, he was here now in the wizarding world and he was excited!

Sitting in a compartment on the train of the Hogwarts express, he had become fast friends with a boy named Sirius Black. The name sounded familiar to him and for some reason he got a picture of a black dog in his head when the boy had first greeted him. The two had eventually been joined by two other people, one was a cute looking redhead named Lily Evans and the other a sour looking boy called Severus Snape.

"So, what house are you hoping to go into?" Lily asked.

"All of my family has been in Slytherin," Sirius said in an unenthusiastic voice. "Maybe I might break the tradition," He added with a hint of joy.

"My dad was a Gryffindor, I think I want to go there, it looks quite fun," James smiled.

"Sure," Snape scoffed. "If you'd rather be brawny than brainy."

"Severus," Lily sighed at him.

"That's not true," James replied. "My father is one of the top men in the Wizengamot and our headmaster was a Gryffindor and he's known as one of the best wizards of all time. So, I suppose you don't want to come to Gryffindor then,"

"Obviously," Drawled Snape in a rude voice.

"Sev!" Lily punched him lightly in the arm before turning to James. "Sorry about him," She apologised. "He's had a rough day,"

"So have I, don't see me being rude," Sirius pointed out before frowning. "Well, ruder than normal anyway."

"Nobody asked you," Snape glared at him.

"So," James said loudly, interrupting any further arguments. "What subjects are you looking forward to?" He asked Lily whose eyes lit up with excitement before she started talking his ear off about every subject in Hogwarts.

Scene 2:

"Potter!" A voice called as he turned the hallway and found himself face to with none other than Snape. "What did you do?!" Snape demanded.

"What are you on about?" James frowned, they had been in Hogwarts for the last five years or so and unfortunately, Snape had shown no signs of changing for the better, but even then the Slytherin never approached him unless he needed something.

"What did you say to Lily?!" Snarled Snape. "She's saying that I'm a muggle-hater! What the hell did you say to her?"

"I didn't say anything to her, but I'm about to say something very unpleasant to you if you don't get out of my face," Warned James, he had tried multiple times to try and be nice to Snape, he really had, but the boy had been trying his patience since first year.

"You don't scare me, you swine!" Growled Snape, pulling out his wand.

"Congratulations," James said dryly before stepping forward and headbutting Snape on the nose, startling the boy and knocking him down onto his butt. James shook his head before snatching Snape's wand and tossing it away. "For the record, wands work better from a distance. Snape glared up at him before rolling a short distance away and pulling out a second wand. James quickly pulled out his own wand and barely managed to get a shield up in time to block a rather nasty-looking hex from Snape.

James blocked several more spells before he managed to shoot off a blasting curse, Snape shielded and James quickly transformed the floor beneath him into quicksand. Snape yelped as he started descending, James wasn't idle and quickly disarmed him and then transformed Snape's robes into a straight jacket before gagging the boy and pulling him out of the quick sand.

"So, we'll call that one a draw, shall we?" James asked lightly.

Scene 3:

"James," Dumbledore said in a tired voice. "I really wish you will listen to me, this is for the best."

"No, Professor Dumbledore," James said firmly. "Snape led you-know-who himself to us! We were attacked yesterday, because of him."

"And I'm sure he regrets that deeply,"

"Yeah, right," James scoffed disbelievingly.

"James, he came to me a few days before, begging for me to protect Lily, he told me everything that -"

"Exactly," James cut in victorious. "Only Lily, he didn't care that I could have died, which I don't like but I can accept and understand. But I will not accept and what I will not tolerate is anyone who brings my family into danger, intentionally or not. Because of him, Lily was put in danger. And he didn't beg for Harry's life! Anyone who puts my son in danger will be seeing the inside of a prison cell or worse."

"But James, Severus has lots of important information that-"

"Information that - if he really was sincere in wanting to help - he would tell you now and go straight to trial without using that information as a bargaining tool," James cut in.

"We both know that Voldemort will return sooner or later,, it is my hope to use Severus as a spy to gain information about his plans," Dumbledore eventually admitted.

"Oh, okay," James said as if finally understanding something complex.

"Wonderful," Dumbledor said with a happy sigh. "So you will not press charges against him and will let him go?"

"Oh hell no, that prick is going to Azkaban," James said matter-of-factly.
