GL test chapter.

A.N: Got to be honest, this is my top pick

(.)

Plot: He knew that he was never the smartest or the strongest person in the world. As such, he never expected to be anything important in life. But when a Green Lantern ring was tossed on his finger and he found himself in a world with flying armour and alien invasions, he knew he had to be better. Green Lantern ring in Marvel. Pairing will be voted on. (For the purpose of this test chapter the MC will be called 'Hal'

Scene 1 -

I got to admit that for the longest time I hadn't been sure where I wanted to be in life, or where I wanted to go. Ever since I was a teenager, I was still wondering where I would be when I grew up and where I would go. For the longest time, adult life had been disappointing. It felt like it was less about freedom and achievements as much as it was about failure management. I can't remember when I had grown used to that.

But it looked like things were changing.

Not only had I just been tossed headfirst into a new universe, but I had also woken up in it with a Green Lantern ring on my finger! Naturally, I had assumed it was fake at first. That was before a bright green aura had surrounded me. Wanting to experiment, I had jumped into the air, wanting to see how far I'd reach. I had leapt about ten times higher than I ever could before, and if that was weird enough, I realised very quickly that I was still going up.

Looking down, I saw the ground getting farther and farther away. It was becoming clear quite quickly that I was not jumping; I was flying. Letting out a whooping noise, I cheered with genuine joy as I flew higher and higher. My arms came up in front of me in the classic superhero pose. I was having so much fun that I almost missed the green and black suit that replaced my clothes. Higher and higher I flew, funnily enough, I somehow knew that this wasn't the fastest I could go. I knew that I could go faster if I really wanted to.

About two seconds later, I shot out of the Earth's atmosphere and came to a stop above the very planet I had lived all my life. Everyone had at some point in their life seen pictures of the Earth from space. I promise you, it was far more beautiful in person. Words seemed inadequate; if there was one thing I could wish upon every soul on the planet before me it was to see the view that I'm seeing. To see this planet in all of its heavenly glory.

An idea came into my head, the grin on my face automatically followed. Without a second thought, without the hesitation that I had been feeling all of my life, I burst forward and headed straight to the moon. I landed on it with a laugh; gravity or a lack thereof didn't bother me. I took a big, slow leap forward like I had seen Neil Armstrong do so many times.

"One small leap for man, one giant leap for mankind." I quoted, my face grinning so wide that I was worried it would crack. I dropped onto my butt, pulled my knees to my chest and just sat there. I wasn't even sure how long for; it might have been minutes, it might have been seconds. I don't know. I just sat there for a while, taking in the beauty of the universe around me.

I took the time to reflect on what I knew about the Green Lanterns. They were part of DC comics, unfortunately, I never read as much comic books as I'd like thanks to my dad, who thought them to be stupid and a waste of time. Even the few I read from DC were primarily Batman, DC's cash cow. My knowledge of Green Lanterns was pretty much limited to my childhood memories of him in the JL cartoon and the movie with Ryan Reynolds. But I knew the basics, the ring creates constructs that are made with my will and imagination. Oh, and it also had a battery. That was concerning, I wasn't even sure if this ring worked the exact same as it's comic and/or movie counterpart. It could be totally different.

"Ring?" I asked hesitantly.

"Yes," A voice spoke up, sounding like a woman.

"I...what's the charge on this ring?" I asked slowly.

"Ring power levels are currently on 25%."

"Wait, what?!" I blurted out loudly.

"Ring power levels are on 25%," The ring repeated. "I'd advise finding a power battery,"

"Yeah, no shit!"

Scene 2 -

"Don't worry, Hal, the helicarrier is perfectly safe." I said in a mocking impression of Fury. "Yeah, safe is it? Seems real safe now as it's getting blown up and boarded." I grumbled as I shook my head off from the explosion that had knocked me into another part of the hellicarrier entirely. I rushed forwards and turned around a corner in time to find three men that didn't look like the nice sort, even without the guns they were holding.

One of them noticed me, I leapt forward with an escrima stick, forming in my hand as I used it to hit him in the face, knocking him out instantly. The next guy noticed me and fired. I instinctively brought up a shield. The shield that appeared was shaped to be an exact replica of Captain America's, maybe because I had just spent time with him recently, not sure to be honest. I rushed forwards as the bullets bounced off the shield and slammed the guy's had in, throwing him against the nearest wall. I threw my shield and it hit the last guy at an odd angle, shooting him up so his back hit the door frame at the end of the hallway.

"Lantern," Fury's voice called over his speaker. "Head out of the carrier and find Stark and Rogers; they're both working on keeping the ship from crashing into the ocean.

"Well, we wouldn't want that," I clicked my tongue before rushing forwards, my green aura covered me and I started flying, smashing through walls and various rooms. There was no time to be subtle or gentle. I flew out of the hellicarrier and spotted Cap and Iron Man working on one of the turbines. I was about to go after them and help when I spotted five jets heading towards us. "Oh, you want some trouble? I'll give you some trouble." I declared as I created matching jets that hovered above me before shooting forwards and fighting off the other jets.

Scene 3 -

"I'm sorry," I couldn't help but chuckle as I stared at the face of General Ross. Frankly, I couldn't believe that the man had the balls or the gall to come to Avengers HQ, knowing that he was the reason one of their main members had been on the run for years. But to ask what he had just asked was frankly ridiculous. "Is this some sort of joke?"

"No, I assure you it is not," Ross said seriously. "You are to hang that ring over to me. It has been declared as the property of the US government."

"I didn't agree to that,"

"Irrelevant,"

"Disagree, it's not even from the same planet as this one so it's not US property and last I checked, I was born in England. Also, I don't know if you notice this but fuck you." I stated calmly.

"I will not ask again, hang over the ring," Ross said firmly.

"Okay, sure," I shrugged, surprising the man, even more so when I casually took the ring off and tossed it to him.

"Hmm," Ross huffed before turning and walking out.

"Did you really just give him your ring?" Hawkeye asked as I and the other avengers watched from the top floor as he made his way to his car and started driving.

"Give it a sec," I told them, waiting until Ross had driven a small distance before the ring smashed out of one of his car windows and flew back through one of the open compound windows and into my hand. "Oh look, ring didn't want to go with, what a shame."

Comments

Hilarious and honestly wish more fo them had responded like that to that old bastard Ross when he came to them with the Accords...rather than following along with them like a tool like Tony did or Natasha for that matter.

TheNinja
