C13 AEGIS 2.28

That's a raw ingame pic guys. How crazy is that?
Here's another

So what is the 2.28 version of C13 AEGIS going to do for you. Well, in the simplest terms, everything that 2.27 does, plus a few lovely additions for photographers.

So firstly, the saturation pass that was a prominent feature of C13 AEGIS pre tone mapping rewrite finally makes a comeback. But now, rather that providing low end vibrancy like it did before (and which caused the texture compression artifacts that come with bc3 and bc5 texture compression standards, which many mods and vanilla content use. Thing purple and green carbon fiber for no damn reason.

Instead, the saturation pass now progressively and relatively desaturates low saturated areas of the image. With a falloff curve, any banding is prevented, and with the control sliders in the script -> tone_mapping tab in PurePP, you can adjust this effect to your desired intensity. For example, feel that asphalt is generally too yellow/affected by sun? Increase Saturation pass intensity, and have those true neutrals stay neutral regardless of world lighting conditions.

Additionally, there's a new boost pass, allowing you to further boost highlights in the image. Think white point/highlights sliders in lightroom.

Here's a plastic example.
Fully stock:
With sat pass and boost:
You can now make the game truly pop, if that's the aesthetic you're aiming for.

Here's how you control it:

Firstly you may notice, that reinhart factor has moved from the main tone mapping tab and into script. Finctionality hasn't changed, decrease to increase highlight compression, and reduce saturation maintaining in highlights. Boost has a main amount control, as well as a starting threshold. Everything above the boost start receives a progressive brightness boost. Similarly (but inverted) with saturation pass. Once enabled, everything below the threshold saturation level receives a progressive desaturation.

Play with these and find out what works for you.

Ok so a few words about what's next. Well firstly, in a conversation with peter, i learned that pure pre-applies an sRGB conversion to the colorspace, so what we're working with in tonemapping isn't actually the full linear rgb. There is a pure update coming (may already be out) that will allow us to get the full linear RGB directly. This is very exciting because working with a full uncompressed color space will provide increased freedom and versatility in my colorwork. But, and this is a big but, this will require the entire tonemapping to be rebalanced and possibly expanded to properly handle the linear dynamic. I will be hard at work on this in the immediate future, and i sincerely hope to have something for you guys to test soon.

In the meantime, have you seen that we finally released the Merceres-Benz W204 C63 triple pack? Made possible by all of the fantastic supporters of the C13 Project. And there are a bunch of cars in the works, that i can't wait to share with you!

As always, thank you so much for the love of support you continue to show!
