Alderamin is the name of the star which refering to the time line of the story.I have no idea how it works, maybe it's just some astronomy shit. 2267s the population continues to increase. Because of the war and different sort of reason, there are massive poverty and hunger problems all over the world. In order to help underdeveloped countries, a team of Japanese scientists created an artificial intelligence machine, which is actually an "Sprite". However, some space colony ships or something like that were attacked by terrorists and crashed to Earth. Some nuclear materials have contaminated the earth and it will take 5,000 years to repair. Scientists help humans change their genes to adapt to the environment. And build up the "sprite" factory to solve the resources problem. The knowledge and technology inisde the "sprite" has been locked until peace is restored to the world. However, the remaining people began to believe in God rather than science and claimed that the "sprite" were created by God.
