I've gotten a little bit fixated with that sci-fi white dress/blue boots getup, and spent a bit more time fleshing it out into a fuller concept. It's OK- I'm getting on will with the gate battle, I've almost finished the renders for Triptychs, and making good headway with the Scuba montage, so I figure it's worth investing some time into thinking about what stories will replace Drop Pods or Cowgirls when they finish. (Yes- I'm working on the Cavalry girls as well, don't worry!)
Anyway, I've got the idea of my sci-fi girls arriving to the fight by aircraft, but I went on a bit of a journey to find the right method. I started with the Mass Effect shuttle, re-textured for Iray and with the Alliance logo replaced with the ring-planet-and-moon logo on the dresses and gloves. I don't like it though- the ship's too big, and it offends my borderline ASD sensibilities to see a vehicle so closely linked to the Mass Effect IP in a different setting. Plus, I'll want it when I finally get around to re-using my Miranda outfit...
Second option is a helicopter. OK- so it's a Little Bird- but I re-textured it and hid the tail rota. Look- if it works for Niel Blomkamp, it can work for me, right? And I liked the idea of them sitting outside on the rails with their legs in their big boots dangling over the side.
That brings me to option three, which is my favourite so far, but also bloody stupid. It's basically someone's knock-off of Tom Cruise's tilt-rotor from Oblivion, but I added a jury-rigged seating arrangement on the back out of some props I found in my library, and it's flown by robots. I don't think I'm 100% happy with the look, but it's more because the props I used don't quite suit the utopian sci-fi aesthetic going on everywhere else. It is a fucking stupid way to travel, but I'm really reluctant to let it go.
Also- there's something of a je ne ce quoi that's missing from those Uniforms.
I'll have to sleep on it.
