Chapter 150: Apotheosis Seed
Added 2022-02-11 22:04:10 +0000 UTCI wake up one day with my chest sore and a dreaded wetness accompanying it. I sigh heavily, I knew this day would come, and in a way, I have accepted that. Usually, most would see this as something to celebrate, but influences from my past life are hard to kill off, one of the reasons why I reject my past life.
It's about a week after I gave the power armor to Borala and helped find her son. I'll be fifteen in half a year which is when I'll be considered an adult... it's a strange thing to think about; I've been considered a child all my life... all this life.
While I do have memories from my past life, those are... more like a dream. I don't know if that's because I try to reject my past life or it's natural being like that, but I am thankful their influence over me is fading.
There's going to be an adulthood ceremony for me at the Lojyo of my fifteenth birthday. I've participated in it many times for other people but for some reason; it never felt like I would be the one to have a ceremony performed for me.
The ceremony is a bathing ritual with a special oil usually performed by a priestess. Everyone chants around the new adult as she baths beneath Myrou's statue. A pair of earrings will be made by the parents, and given though, these aren't nearly as significant as a Kyhosa. These earrings are still important as they signify one's adulthood, and both are worn when not married.
When proposing marriage, one of the earrings is exchanged with one of the other person's earrings, so the earrings are often made unique and made to represent the new adult.
I get up and go to Mom, who is excited at my development.
"You're becoming an adult Alysara," Mom says happily, "but this also means that you'll probably have to learn how to deal with mating season."
I groan; I'm going to be getting 'the talk'. Runalymo aren't like humans of my past life; they have a mating season that lasts a few weeks. Worse, mating season usually happens twice a year. Also, mating season is different for everyone, and its severity also differs, from mild to pretty severe.
I just bear through the lessons, which is, thankfully, not too long. In short, there's a spell I can cast, so I don't have a baby, a contraceptive spell. I wonder if I can just skip mating season entirely through a hormone regulation spell?
Runalymo society doesn't have knowledge of hormones, but I do; maybe I can revolutionize the whole mating season thing and prevent it from happening... or induce it if people want.
With my bodily needs taken care of, I send four clones over to the dungeon. I should try to get my Bond as high as I can before my next Race evolution, but there's also something I've severely neglected, my mana and magic studies; maybe I should include divinity in that as well?
Anyway, I should now start studying magic frameworks in more detail, it's my first and highest leveled enhanced breakthrough, and I'd like to cap it. First, let's start with a summary and see if there's anything I missed.
Magic frameworks are the union between divinity and magic; order and chaos, creation and destruction. Magic frameworks are responsible for Classes and Skills and use 'experience' to grow. So why does magic need experience? Experience... I'm not entirely sure, but it seems to be a catalyst for true magic to work. Magic eats experience, and it influences the direction of magic framework evolutions; it also seems to influence the creation of magic items.
That seems to be the overall knowledge of magic frameworks. The problem is that I can't see the other half of it, the divinity side, but I can still infer some things, such as how the amount of divinity seems to be the reason why levels are limited.
By looking at the amount of magic within a magic framework, I can determine its level if it's a Skill or Class... but can I do that with Race Skills as well to find out how strong they are?
I sit in my chair in my room to get comfortable, then I focus on my Race magic framework and study the magic quantity of the skills. Something quickly becomes apparent in that the magic in it should far exceed the divinity in it, which shouldn't be allowed under normal circumstances.
Obviously, I am comparing the limits of other major-tier Races and Classes I can see since I can't see divinity. There seems to be another source of divinity for my race, and for that, I can only attribute it to two things, the Heirloom tier or the [Sense Magic] and [Nexus Immunity] Skills.
Normally Classes seem to get their divinity from the Skills or tier, but that has to be different for Races, right? Maybe I am missing something, a key piece of the puzzle. First, what are tiers? Are they a source of divinity or a measurement of it? Why does it only increase with evolutions? Then there's the tier bonus which seems to be magical?
I absentmindedly play with my hair, twirling it with a finger while pondering the mysteries.
Then there's the question of what Miasma and Experience truly are, which may be vital in answering the previous questions since they are responsible for the growth of magic frameworks. So, what are they? Miasma and experience are a positive or negative versions of each other; if experience grows magic frameworks, then Miasma destroys it. Both are generated by achievements.
I peer into the dungeon and watch the teams of monster slayers fight in the dens. I pay close attention to the generation of Miasma and experience.
Miasma is created with hardships and failure that are inevitable with achievements. In a fight, every time one takes damage, the fear of losing, getting hurt, or even death is enough to generate Miasma, but on the flip side, triumphing over monsters, escaping alive, saving others from being hurt all produce experience.
But the generation of Miasma and Experience is not always equal, they cancel out each other out, but in general, the harder the task, the more Miasma is produced but also, the more experience once one does succeed.
This is everything I've observed so far, so let's get into the more theoretical stuff. What is Miasma and Experience, not what it does, or what makes it, but what is it?
I have one hypothesis, and that is that they are some sort of energy like divinity. If Miasma can be turned into more magic, then obviously, the balance of a magic framework would be broken if too much is, for lack of better words, ingested. If that's the case, then experience will make divinity grow, which will help stabilize the magic framework.
Hang on... How does the magic in a magic framework grow? If experience increases divinity and Miasma increases magic, then isn't Miasma necessary?
I get up and start pacing back and forth to help my mind focus on this revelation.
If, instead, the Miasma wasn't just being neutralized by experience but instead being consumed to help grow magic frameworks, then it isn't just something to be avoided. What does that mean for my cursed skills?
That explains why the skill itself being cursed doesn't destroy the soul; the skills have a built-in mechanism to deal with Miasma, but Classes have a mechanism to draw out that Miasma for their own use, and Classes don't seem to have a limiter, so it ends up taking too much at once making magic greater than divinity in the magic framework which ends up tearing it apart.
This suggests that it is possible to curse a skill just by using it normally... which is why the magic framework for general skills exists; it draws out excess Miasma and discharges it or uses it for some other means. Classes are an altered form of the general skill Framework which use the Miasma for other purposes, but it also makes it capable of using Class skills, which means that if I can somehow build a magic framework for cursed skills designed to draw out the Miasma in my cursed skills, then it should be possible to cure them.
I need to observe how a second Class is grown, but then again, gaining more Classes seems to be something obtained by reaching certain milestones, but why is that? Why do certain milestones need to be passed?
I already qualify for a second Class, so maybe I should take a closer look into the framework of my general Skills, but there is one important question I first need to ask. If there is a milestone for cursed Skills, what do I need to do to get it? It's a huge risk to even get to the milestone; it'll be even more of a risk to actually form a magic framework without knowing that it will safely drain Miasma from my Skills and that is all assuming that this is even possible in the first place.
The risk is simply too great; I cannot risk forming a magic framework around cursed skills, nor do I know how. I already have a method that should work and is safe... but there is an issue with it; if I use the skill without a magic framework, it will just become cursed again so, maybe I need to purify them first then somehow make a magic framework around them? Or perhaps I just need to transfer a purified skill over to a class or race immediately after getting rid of the Miasma.
I sigh heavily, stop pacing, and put a hand on my chin in thought.
No wonder no one has managed to cure cursed skills; it's complicated, requires a lot of risk, and requires an enhanced skill to even study. That one elf Safyr heard rumors of might just have been an exaggerated rumor, or might the elf just stumbled into the cure, or maybe they were just a con-man seeking to make a buck off of bearers of cursed skills.
Well, let's get to studying how the whole milestone thing works.
I peer deeply into my general skills magic framework; there has to be a buildup of magic and divinity to form the seed for another framework... but I don't see anything. Perhaps I need a breakthrough for it; let's see...
I am looking for something, not a magic framework yet but something... like a bundle of magic? Of divinity? No, a seed that is a mix of both; what would that look like, though, and where is it? If I had to guess, it will be at the core of the framework.
I focus intently at the core of my general skill framework, looking... feeling for a mix of divinity and magic; it had to be there.
Suddenly a bright, magical star comes into focus with a trumpet of 'tings' to announce its arrival. A powerful source of magic shines in the core of my magic framework.
Ting! Sense Magic has met the requirements for a breakthrough and will continue leveling past level 820!
41st Breakthrough: You have observed the magic within an apotheosis seed; this will help you unlock the mysteries of the system.
Ting! Sense Magic has obtained levels 695-728!
In addition to the new breakthrough, several other breakthroughs also gained levels in both action and knowledge. I can only see the magic of it, not the divinity; unfortunately, I still am blind to the other side of the system, but now I have a new goal, to study this apotheosis seed while I still have the chance.
This also suggests that an apotheosis seed needs a magic framework to form, but if that's the case, how does the ultimate Class form? Maybe it's applied to a Skill or Bond-skill that is already in a magic framework, but this is all speculation; I'll get to it if I have the opportunity.
I continue studying the apotheosis seed watching how the raw magic behaves. It shimmers and swirls against something else, but looking at actual magic frameworks reveals that magic and divinity are fused together, forming one new thing, like an alloy of magic and divinity.
It seems like the magic and divinity have yet to actually fuse together in the apotheosis seed, which suggests that the two must fuse once they form a new framework. This leads to more questions like what even is this raw form of magic? Is it a particle-like mana?
I crank my perceptive pressure up to the max on the apotheosis seed and focus intensely on it, ignoring a few 'Tings' of my skill leveling further. Under the intense gaze of my skill, I discover the very fabric of existence warping under the chaotic magic, a dizzying churning, and twisting which bends the very space into complex and impossible forms.
Magic is not matter, energy, or any other form of thing. It is chaos, the metaphorical dice of randomness and impossibility; it is change. Magic seems to be an intrinsic property of reality, the fabric of existence.
For each question answered there, several more need to be answered. Why and how does mana fuel magic? Why and how does Miasma feed it? And more importantly, if magic is the very embodiment of chaos, then what does that mean for cursed beings? Why are they called cursed? I have a breakthrough for seeing 'a magic being' when seeing a cursed being, but that implies that not all magic beings are cursed beings.
I will have to investigate this later but for now, let's see how much my skill has grown now.
Ting! Sense Magic has obtained levels 729-747!
Ting! You have gained the Sense Space general skill!
Ting! You have too many general skills; would you like to remove one or keep what you have?
[Sense Space] was one that I've been thinking about getting not just to slay monsters but also to help me make better portals and storage items. It's definitely going to be a contender for the next skills I'll get once I free up some slots.
Having such a source of magic to study has proven invaluable. I have gained over fifty levels in a day, but more importantly, I now have a clearer insight into magic and, in turn, its opposite, divinity.
This is a huge breakthrough in the study of magic; I should at least record it into my book, and since my book is made of mana, I can just add more to it. I need to make a new one anyway, Lotis is a little confused on parts, and that's probably because it teaches each breakthrough of [Sense Mana], and it's not just a book on mana as a whole.
I divert a clone to the task of making a book to explain not just mana but all my sensing skills. This one won't just be how to learn the skill but will teach the fundamental concepts and everything to help others understand mana, magic, and souls as best as they can.

2022-02-14 13:41:26 +0000 UTC1. People's lifespans are about 150 years but some races can live longer. 2. Aly is actually quite wealthy in her own society. A fire coin should be worth around 2 USD and she is worth around 250,000 fires, meaning she has about half a million USD. 3. I get an e-mail whenever someone posts a comment on a chapter also Patreon shows which chapter has the most recent comment so it's easy to see a comment no matter which chapter.

2022-02-13 09:58:41 +0000 UTC''In order to get the best deal, we can we need our money to be more valuable than theirs; fortunately, we normally don’t want for gold as much as other places. Its primary use is in jewelry; the one thing that throws a wrench in this deal is that true gold, gold saturated with gold essence, is very rare, and due to the Vanu family being Bonded to gold essence, they can mass-produce true gold. I can, too, so that helps, but my time and abilities are better spent elsewhere.'' ''one hundred silver equals one gold'' ''light and dark coins are worth seven silver'' ''Beauty and Creativity coins are worth seventy gold.'' In an earlier chapter, it was mentioned she has around 700 dark/light coins combined. So according to this, she only has 49 gold coins? After saving everyone's lives repeatedly, working for the village, remaking the village with a sever system so peoples lives are better, improved enchanting and taught it, taught spell crystals, taught mana weaving, making airships(one out of pure mana), she does not even have a single one of the highest denominations worth? The Ring of Anti-Clairvoyance that the assassin who tried to kill her had should have been rightfully hers as she subdued her and had her life put at risk, + it will help keep her safe in the future, yet she clearly lost access to it. She did not get a single magic item from the retaken ruins/city. Either something is VERY wrong here or her time would CLEARLY be better spent making Myrou Gold....

2022-02-13 09:57:12 +0000 UTCA few of questions I have is: Will she get a new lab at some point after the cursed being event? She mentioned wanting a workshop of her own, couldn't the village help with making her a big one after all she's done? How does aging work? Normal Lifespan until you reach legendary and then you got eternal life span? Or does it follow tier rankings? Minor is 50, Adept is 100, Major 250, Grand 500, Heroic 1000, Exalted 2500, legendary eternal?

2022-02-13 09:47:51 +0000 UTCAll of these things combined should be enough for it to be considered a home away from home, a place where she can feel safe, giving it plenty of meaning? A most fitting thing, is that the 2 dragons that were ''popped'' the most times, was Safyr and Erandur, meaning the airship will match Alysara's eyes(Black from the metal hidden behind the scales, Blue from Safyr's scales, Red from Erandur's scales and white from the sails). If she pours her heart into every detail, then the symbolism + high quality of materials + meaning + effort if she makes it entirely alone while using all the knowledge she has gathered up to this point and having been shaped by [Manipulate Magic], should be enough to turn the entire airship into a single magic item, possibly gain a legendary point also(could possibly be used to upgrade [Manipulate Magic] to gain bonuses for crafting, seeing as she appears to be planning on becoming a pure bond user?)? This would naturally be a long term project, and should not be finished before she purifies [Manipulate Mana], so she can upgrade it into [Manipulate Magic] to make the necessary changes that require it + further improvements she can think of. Naturally she should ask for permission from Safyr to be allowed to check out her skills and use these materials to be on the safe side(its not like she's ripping them off her, just picking up the scattered pieces from all around the nexus). Maybe also ask Safyr to be there when she finishes it so the mana it draws in will come from a dragon instead for the sake of symbolism? Having her own airship will be perfect for when she decides to explore the world. She can man it herself with clones with limited AI doing basic things and duplicates dealing with more complex matters. + maybe whoever she brings along when traveling. Maybe a training room for them also? Or maybe just use the deck for that, not like it will get destroyed easily.
Pawzom Lz
2022-02-13 09:47:30 +0000 UTCThe airship would have red scales(Fire Manipulation/affinity to help move hot air under the sails for lift), blue scales(with water manipulation/water affinity for when on water to reduce water resistance for more speed?) below where it is in contact with the water when not flying, scales covering the deck like a shield, moulded with [Beauty Blessing] to look like a transparent scale mosaic(dragon scales have been said to be immune to anything but true magic, though with [Manipulate Magic] she should be able to do it herself, just at a horrifying mana cost?) with massive white sails(Wind manipulation/affinity) above the shield, to the sides and maybe below masts(bone), all of this enchanted to spread damage around just to be safe and use a variant enchant of the one use on Blade of Flame (Enchanted) that she gifted away during the diplomacy talks to increase mana regen of the airship(and maybe her racial trait as an inscription that increases mana regen by 300%?). If she can successfully study [Ring of Anti-Clairvoyance] and add that effect to the ship so it cannot be tracked by anyone but her, all the better. As the heart of the ship, her own Mana Arc that she personally makes as a prototype while trying to figure out how to free Kayafe? Naturally, it should be big enough to have some luxuries on the inside, like a big bath and running water(made possible by using one of Safyr's scales so only water can pass through, not salt, also giving them a source of salt), maybe it could even be big enough on the inside to justify a garden, where she could plant [Dryad’s Grace]’s seed? With the Star Tree's effect to grow plants faster, the airship would become self sufficient over long voyages and be able to produce its own oxygen. She would always be able to locate it with [Dryad’s Grace] and the ship would get a ''medical bay'' thanks to the Star Tree's sanctuary effect(maybe it would just affect the entire ship instead if she places some flower pots all over?). She could attach [The First Inscription] in what will be her personal quarters, maybe also making it so the scales of the airship itself can serve as a scapegoat for her when scrying while she is inside it? And when combined with the Star Tree's proxy effect, could allow her to summon a clone into her quarters no matter where the airship is with the appropriate magical circle, with the clone being able to draw mana from the Mana Arc instead of herself, meaning distance is no longer an issue on her mana?

2022-02-13 09:47:12 +0000 UTCSeeing as the flagship Alysara is currently making, being made under request of Tusile, means its for the village not her. Which is why I had the following idea: During the fight against the cursed being, dragons had their bodies destroyed a minimum of 8 times, with body parts going all over the place, and in case of Safyr we got mention of her wings being replaced, twice. Alysara could make her own personal airship with dragon scales as the skin/armour/hull, bones as the spine/support/keel with space/gravity mana metal around it as the flesh(to increase inner space while not adding more mass, maybe made out of liquid mana if she can figure out how to do it while keeping its necessary shape with [Manipulate Magic]?), wing membranes as sails and maybe fashion the teeth/claws into harpoons and fashion a launching mechanisms with attachable dragon tendon ''chains''? In her dungeon link item and [Dryad’s Grace] she managed to incorporate Sense Magic and Nature Manipulation respectively with magic circles. Can she do the with the airship and add in [Diver], [Graceful Movements], [Fire Affinity](and affinity for Gravity, space, speed, water, weight and wind), [Fire Manipulation](and Manipulation for Gravity, space, speed, water, weight and wind), Levitation enchantment([Dryad’s Grace] has this and other useful ones), some kind of healing skill(so it can slowly recover from damaged and missing parts), maybe a Blessing of Wholeness vaiant? And last but not least, [Invincible] by studying Safyr?

2022-02-13 09:46:38 +0000 UTCMana regen racial trait as an inscription on an item created by all the mana regen items/materials combined(Mana heart/core?) to increase its regen by 300%? Could inscription tattoo's be a thing? Ring of Anti-Clairvoyance needs further study, she got sense magic, not mana, so she should be able to learn something from it that allows her to see past it? If she can it means she can finally wear it without getting disoriented, which would also grant her another layer of defence. As someone who specialises in sensing others, she should understand the importance of preventing enemies from sensing you in turn. And I some have ideas for bond abilities that will be a big help to Alysara. First is negative beauty laser. Taking inspiration from Tana and Erandur here who have managed to turn destructive flame into something that can also heal. Negative beauty laser will do less damage the more ugly something is and more damage the more beautiful it is. But maybe because it goes against the nature of beauty and her bond does not like it, she cannot level up in any fight she does it? Second is that a form of Beauty was described as passionate fire, can this be used to imitate fire so it will burn more vitality to fuel itself? Third is for her to try to focus Beauty Mark's 2nd breakthrough in the head, or if that's not possible try to get a 3rd breakthrough for that. After all, a detonation there will do way more damage than if it is just all around the body.
Pawzom Lz
2022-02-13 09:46:03 +0000 UTCIf Alysara does not end up going 5 bond classes, then the Activist could be amazing for her since she has a significant amount of active skills, especially if her bond ones count as active skills(not referring to class ones)? And this way she would not have to drop any and could even add [Multi-Strike], [Soul Damage Reduction] and the Gaze skill with one or two slots left open. It would not be able to do anything about her True Sight, but I feel like that one is being set up to be fused into her 2nd or 4th racial trait so it probably does not matter. The Passivist class would be perfect for Tana with him being a solo delver. For that he will need many defensive, offensive and utility passives, all of which this class covers, especially if he wants to fuse many of them together. His resource is not mana, but Vitality, so having too many active skills is not necessarily in his interest. Though this is why [Alchemy] would be perfect for him as his job(although Monster Slayer does not seem to count for him for some reason?).
Pawzom Lz
2022-02-13 09:44:10 +0000 UTCWould be interesting if there was a Milestone for being first to break a curse, leading to a 6th class. Same with Inscription, if being the first to invent a profession could get an additional class for that. They all sound like pretty damn big Milestones in not only personal development, but potentially world wide development as well. A couple classes I thought up. The Activist and the Passivist. They are both the reverse of each other so I will just mention the first which will automatically let you know what the second is. The Activist, 10 active skill slots, 0 passive slots. If tier is at the very bottom of adept, it will give 50% bonus to Activist skills and 50% bonus to all active skills. Maybe have it so these classes comes with a warning of being mutually exclusive, so one cannot have both? What is special about these classes is that they can use all Active and Passive skills respectively, meaning it can fit class skills that would otherwise have very specific class requirements, preventing them from becoming cursed skills. Although it does not make it easier to acquire such skills as a Mind mage class would make getting a mind skill(at least I assume classes makes it easier to get such skills? There's been no mention of it) I were thinking [Multi-Task] would probably be the best requirement for the Activist skill. I am not sure about the Passivist though. Maybe some kind of skill that helps him act instinctively?
Pawzom Lz
2022-02-13 09:43:54 +0000 UTC1st: Fairy Summoner -> Distant Summoner -> Spatial Summoner(requires a phase shift skill, summons can shift between spatial layers like the Phase Rovlat) -> Dimensional Summoner(summons can stay connected to summoner between dimensions if distance is not too far? Not sure about this one, how would one measure distance? Would the spot one enter the other dimension count as a physical connection, keeping the relative normal distances a thing somehow?). 2nd: Clone Summoner -> Twin Summoner(Twin Minds) -> Unlimited Summoner(Unlimited Minds). 3rd: Arcane Summoner(Manipulate Magic), extends range of [Manipulate Magic] around her clones as it does for her and gives her 2 skills, first of which allows her to summon others(and herself) after preparation(summoning circle and/or channelling?), and a second which allows her to swap places with a clone, with a long(initial) cooldown. 4th: Astral Summoner(Requires Astral Projection and Dimensional summoner class), phase shift now allows for clones to shift to the astral layer. 5th: Runic Summoner(since she is THE pioneer in inscriptions she should have a class related to it), allows for inscriptions to be placed on the summons without destroying them, that allow them to drain the mana from their surroundings, giving them their own mana regen(potentially adding to her own mana regen if they are clones?)

2022-02-12 15:04:24 +0000 UTCI could see that to further her magic studies and to cure her cursed skills, that she would study the difference between the skills and potentially experiment on True Sight first because it is less developed therefore likely the easiest to cure. My guess is that there is an imbalance between the miasma and divinity energies. The hard part would be to find a way to balance the 2 and not have 1 energy devour the other before balance can be reached.

2022-02-12 13:41:35 +0000 UTCI don't think that there be anything wrong with fixing true sight, it's not like she needs to rely on her normal vision, and having access to the actual true sight with filters to help the pain seems incredibly useful. I wouldn't put it as the highest priority for her to fix, and if it takes time and resources it's probably at the bottom.
