Late to the party but Barbra has shared that the scene with her singing atop the piano with Ryan was a real-time vocal recording. The common practice for most singing numbers is to 'loop' a studio voiceover where the sound quality can be tightly controlled. Barbra said that she doesn't do this because she sings a song slightly differently each time and can't match it to what was shot on film. I don't know if Coby has already watched director Peter Bogdanovich's (sort of) follow-up film, "Paper Moon", but it's a delight.
