Imma call it done for this one. Thought I'd share the process too. Maybe some of you guys are interested in that.
So, just a bit of the steps, first I start with a sketch and figure out what I'm gonna do. Then, after I'm content with what I have, I go in and rough in some colors in there; usually flat colors that stick to a certain color scheme (in this case, a warm tropical tone). Afterwards, I paint in the shadows of the characters and the background based on the direction of light source. Once, I got that solid, I usually just keep painting from there and keep refining a bunch of different elements until it looks right.
That last part's missing a couple of pointers but that's an abridged version of what I do to get to the final image.
Oh also, I got a little GIF cycling through the stages so that you guys can see it transform.
