Here you can ask me things you're wondering about for our games or company and they'll be answered at the end of the month an an audio recording (with a text transcript too). Just make sure the questions long follow the guidelines!
The thread will close after the 19th.
Guidelines:
1. Please don't reply to other people's questions even if you know the answer. The fun of joining a Q&A is that the developer can give a direct response to you and that everyone else also gets to hear/see the answer in the end of the month post. Having another player resolve the question in the comments right here might not be what the asker was hoping for. This thread is more about having a good time rather than looking for an immediate response to an important question. And if you do have a question you want to hear about right away, it's best to ask in some other thread or to message me directly.
2. I'm afraid questions about what scenes/choices/art assets Our Life: Now & Forever will include aren't answerable right now. Most of the details are decided as the game is created and currently I'm only writing Step 1. I do know some things coming later, but only a small fraction of the whole game.
3. The questions can't be about more serious/potentially upsetting topics because I don't want those listening to suddenly be surprised with something they might not have been prepared for/want to be confronted with.
4. Please keep the questions here to things that wouldn't be really hard to tackle in an off-the-cuff, spoken out loud kind of Q&A, aha. Questions about a half dozen characters or wanting an entire theoretical situation described aren't super doable in this situation.
You can always send me questions outside of the audio Q&A if they wouldn't work here!

Hey! I can't answer the first one in the Q&A since people who haven't played the beta listen to this as well. But the reason he says that is because Tamarack got them in trouble with the teacher by being loud. So he is complaining that Tamarack is bad in a mean way.

I know this isn't the best question to ask since you haven't even finished Our Life 2, but is it possible there will be an Our life 3? I always liked the concept of the our life universe taking place in different seasons and Locations so I always thought it would be cool to see a Location like Bob's Burgers where the Mc lives near an amusement park with two daddies. Maybe they're the older sibling this time.

One, I understand that unrequited love/crushes won't be a feature in the final game, but hypothetically if you had the time and wanted to, how would you implement it? The second one is more minor, but if you start step 2 with a new nickname, none of the cast calls you by it. Does that mean there's no way you can have the nickname be something that's already established in between steps? Sorry if that's a dumb question.

And thank you to David for making it easier to peruse all the Q&As! Anyway, I have linguistic questions about the elder Baumanns: 1. Is there any particular reason that Mrs. Baumann is "Omi", but Mr. Baumann isn't "Opi"? Does he have any feelings either way about not getting the more affectionate suffix? 2. Do they speak German when they're alone with each other? If they do, given that German is a terribly gendered language, have you given any thought as to how they would talk about Qiu or a nonbinary MC once they're out? I understand if not. It's not something I would expect to come up in the game, after all.

Does she avoid it altogether? Eat it carefully? Not care about the rules? And how strictly do Dorothea and Ernst enforce those kinds of restrictions? (Bonus if you wanna include it: how strict would Opal try to be with an MC who has braces?)

First, do you believe we’ll have the option in the text to choose how our life(hehe) was before moving to the home we live in currently in OL2? Like if the mc was bullied or really popular or shy or if they don’t really remember. I thought if this when I was playing the step 2 preview and seeing how we can choose our reputation. Secondly, does Qiu take their hair care very seriously? I’ve always had a little head canon that they’d freak out over a bad hair day in every step. And lastly, I remember reading that OL2 is going to be a little more angsty than OL1. I was wondering how sadder it would be and do you ever wonder what type of topics you’ll implement into the game? I imagine not a lot of serious topics to not show any disrespect but I wonder if this game will make me cry. (I probably will anyway because I freak out over small affection moments) Haha small edit but will the mc’s grandparents ever be mentioned? Will they be said as alive but not have a sprite/see them or be said as deceased? Or maybe a little angsty and that opal isn’t in contact with her parents.

I wonder if it was decided at the beginning of the game/ writing the whole story that Cove was on the autism spectrum. I’m just curious about why adding this trait to him. Mainly because I always thought he was just a normal/neurotypical kid. I have to admit that he does need to improve some social skills at the beginning of the game, but I just thought all kids need that anyway... 2. I wanna know more about the relationship between Liz and Leon! I really enjoyed OL1, but knowing Cove was on the autism spectrum astonished me. I guess I will wait until OL2 is complete before I play it. I’ve already heard it’s fantastic. Thank you for your wonderful work!

You said Baxter doesn't really listen to metal when other people are around. But I'm curious if he'd do it more if his partner was actually in the industry and into that specific music style (which is the case on my playthrough - and fun fact, I decided that for my MC before learning Baxter likes it!)?

I am sorry if these questions have already been answered in a previous Q&A. Question 1. Is the Jealous Over/Envious Of going to be a dynamic available for Step 3 or is it just for Step 2? Question 2. Is there an estimation as to what quarter of next year the base game will come out? Question 3. Is the base game going to release with Step 1 and 2 paid DLC’s or without the DLC’s? Question 4. Will you be releasing the step 2 moments fully completed each month or releasing half of a moment each month like you did with step 1? I hope that makes sense. That is all of my questions! I just wanted to say thank you so much for creating this game and for working so hard every month! With the LI’s attended college, how would their grades, attendance and general performance be? 2. How would the LI’s respond to someone saying they have a crush on them? 3. We know that Baxter is strongly against when a couple surprises the other by smashing cake in their face (which I wholeheartedly agree because why would you want to do something like that if your partner doesn’t want to?) and I was wondering if Baxter has ever experienced that sort of thing happening and how he went about it. I know he’s not directly involved with the couple and moreover the wedding but I feel as though he’d have some kind of reaction. 4. For all the boys, if you’re in a relationship with them; who would they bond with the most out of the mcs family? 5. Would the boys play an April fools prank on the mc, or would they try to avoid it? What would their reaction be to the mc pranking them? 6. Would Liz continue to meme on Baxter about him being “the monochrome man”? I think it’d be hilarious for her to never let that joke die, similar to how Jude and Scott wouldn’t let Baxter live down him thinking their relationship wouldn’t last. 7. In relation to that last question, we know Baxter has no negative reaction from being clowned on, but does he actually mind? Does he find it funny? Will Qiu and Tamarack have a preferred type of accessory that they like to see you wear (like Cove and anklets) or is it too soon to know? I'm super excited to see the ending of the Home moment and start getting the actual epilogue of step one! I've already played what's available a million times with a million varieties of MCs (okay, maybe that was a small exaggeration) and I love the variation. We never really see Liz’s reaction to Baxter and the MC getting back together, but I can’t imagine it was a happy one, considering her insults for him. Does she ever forgive Baxter, and do they ever form a friendly relationship after? 2.) How do the OL1 boys act when they’re sick? Do any of them try to deny it and keep going about their day, or feel like they’re dying and act like a big baby about it? 3.) If becoming parents, how would the love interests of both games prefer to know the gender of their baby? Like either finding out during the pregnancy, or keeping it a surprise until the birth. (Feel free to skip Qiu and Tamarack if you aren’t sure for them yet!)

A little question I was curious about is if Qiu (or rather the Lin family) would go along in future years of Qiu's idea of celebrating the Mid-Autumn festival with MC if they also celebrate it? Does Tamarack keep up her hilarious rage moments as she grows up? I love how determined she can be to stand up for MC. It's so wholesome it hurts. Qiu mentions in one of the beta moments the mid-autumn festival and invites you over. In step 2 (or later steps), are we going to get an option to say we came over for that? Are there any plans for there to be a moment about it, even? Hope you had a good trip! Excited to see the final part of Home and the epilogue whenever that's coming (hoping we'll get a part of it this month!)

OL1 doesn't have jealousy meter but if it had, who of the LIs (Cove, Baxter, Derek) would be most jealous and how would they show it if at all? I have always wondered how step 3 Cove feels inside if he's crushing on MC who is dating Baxter! 2. When we get kickstarter keys for OL2, can we somehow link them on our steam accounts?

It's totally fine if you can't answer this because you didn't think that far ahead or want to keep it for later, but I have some questions about OL2 and only one question for Project W related to Floret Bond. Project W and Floret Bond seem to have similiar vibes and I played Floret Bond demo as platonic route and immediately liked all the characters. It would have been cool to see it complete but I understand not everything can be finished for multiple reasons, however given the game both has a Patreon release and a public Demo release is there a chance the characters there are mentioned even just as passersby characters (like MC seeing the two/three walk by for two seconds or even just talking briefly to them even if not with a visible model), it would be a cute cameo. Do you already have in mind how Tam and/or Qiu would sound like for all steps or at least step 1? Kinda like, what fictional character/VA voice match the general idea (if there is one and if you can't answer it that's understandable), if there's no actual voice in mind what about the "vibes" of the voice, like soft, high pitched, relaxing etc. (always if possible to answer) I'll admit I'm dying to know, but it's ok if this is something you can't answer/say yet. Will there be a chance to actually match Halloween costumes with Qiu or Tam in other steps or will it be more like step 1 where the costume match but only because of a random choice? (Kinda like randomly matching with Qiu with them as the Grim Reaper and MC as a Ghost or similiar) Is there a prom like event in OL2? Because I vaguely remember reading that as a moment in Step 2 and remember Serenity dressed for said Prom/Homecoming (?) but I can't tell if it's a false memory caused by wishful thinking or a comment I read. Lastly, does Qiu have a eating disorder or similiar in step 2? This is the question based off a comment where someone mentioned Qiu eating disorder but but I don't remember when/if that was actually mentioned in a post. Sorry for all the questions and yapping, they kinda piled up over time and if I don't ask them all at once I know for a fact they would become even more by the time a new Q&A comes out I might end up taking over half of it XD
