Month End Post: April 2025 Wrap-Up

How does that saying go? April showers bring… Dev hours? Cove flowers? Qiu powers? One of those has to be right.

It’s the end of the month! We’re here to catch you up on all of the progress and activities that our team has been working on. So sit back, relax, and take a gander at the GB Patch Games April 2025 blog!

Monthly Content Summary:

In community, April Fool’s Day saw the release of Our Life: Everyone is Derek. It was just a tiny joke from us, but it really got us thinking about a world where everyone is Derek. Many philosophical questions at hand here.  

On the 9th, the winner of Our Life March Madness was announced! After over 30,000 votes, “Roadtrip” was crowned the community’s favorite Moment and the winner of the first ever GB Patch March Madness. Let’s also give a round of applause for the second place Moment, Fireflies! 🔥

Lastly, we announced the Our Life Cookbook project! We’re accepting recipes inspired by Our Life: Beginnings & Always, that will be designed by us and put into a free PDF for all to use. If you’d like to learn more, head to the terms and conditions page here. 🧑‍🍳

In development, we had two large notices this month: the voice actor audition call and news regarding the next demo update. On the 25th, we released a call for the Our Life: Now & Forever Step 1 voice actors! We’re looking for four actors (must be 18+) to voice Ren, Qiu, Tamarack, and Baxter as their Step 1 selves. Finally, GB revealed a great deal of information regarding the next demo update. If you’d like to check out the full post, you can find it here. But if you’d like a quick summary, here it is: The next demo update will happen in Fall 2025. It’ll include the Step 1 Moment “Fancy Fun”, the rest of the Step 2 prologue, and the Step 2 Moment “Assistance”. The whole thing is about four times the size of a regular demo and will contain a whopping 110,000 words!

In script work, GB had a few unfinished scenes from Homecoming from last month. She spent April re-drafting and heavily reworking them to improve the overall script. 

Additionally, she reached the halfway point in scripting Rhyming Riddles! She also began planning for a brand new Moment (!!!) that she’ll be drafting soon. Keep an eye out for more info on this one. 👀

In programming progress, the final Step 1 Moment has officially wrapped up! PARTY TIME! Now, GB is getting a start on the ending segment of Step 1. 

She’d like to mention that typically more script and programming work would be completed overall, but she was out for a full week on a trip in the beginning of April, as well as spending the better part of the month sick.

Finally, in art updates, so much Halloween work was done this month (as you may have seen on our socials) – everyone and anyone has a super cute outfit. 

Additionally, a few backgrounds of various locations were given alterations for rainy and gloomy weather scenes.
