You and Floki are the only ones who are dissatisfied with Canute leaving the Ketil farm.

That's fair. When I read ahead, I was pleasantly surprised that the change had begun so quickly really enjoyed this arc. After that, I gradually and consistently became less invested in the story and felt that it was losing most of what I thought made it stand out to me, so I understand. I also enjoyed this arc a lot more in the manga, particularly with the pacing.

I already went through that way of seeing what happened and even accepted the fact that he always cared about other people's lives, he was only killing because Askeladd kept promising him a duel after a job, that's fine. The anime is called Vinland Saga so it really makes sense where this is going, the Vinland thing was carved in Thorfinn's head since the beggining. I am just sad because I wanted more from this anime, I wouldn't mind if this happened more in the future, I just think everything happened too fast.

The Canute thing I understand and don't necessarily disagree with, but it's absolutely possible for someone like Thorfinn to undergo the change he did. I mean, isn't it a tale as old as time for there to be people who hold to an extremely rigid belief and then end up on the opposite extreme, for better or for worse, when their belief gets shattered?
Thorfinn spent like 9 years with revenge being the only thing on his mind, which kept him distracted from self-reflection. His mindset was even more extreme and rigid than Thorkell's or Askeladd's. I'd understand your thinking that the development is unrealistic more if he'd changed his mind before he was deprived of his chance to kill Askeladd, or even if he'd begun to change as soon as he did after finally killing Askeladd, had he been able, because that would've at least given him instant gratification and tricked him into thinking he was fulfilled for a while. But his only chance at validating the mission that he allowed to occupy 10 years of his life, abandon his family, and ignore the teachings of his father for was completely taken from him. Askeladd even told him "Dude, this is not how the son of someone extraordinary like Thors should've been spending his life." And then with him being thrust into slavery, he had nothing to do but work and think about he'd ruined his own life by not just grieving and moving on, and how he'd put his own pain above that of those who were killed in his and Askeladd's path. Thorfinn never even liked fighting. He just felt like he had to to avenge his father. Plus, he was only 15 when Askeladd died, so it wasn't like he'd spent a lifetime chasing that goal
Whether or not you found it or the way it was done was interesting, or that it was done a bit too quickly, is one thing, but I think saying it's impossible doesn't make sense at all.

Feels like an entire new anime. I get that Thorfinn faced his demons and they want to show a peace message for the audience and they made it very well. But, I mean, it's impossible for someone who been through the thing Thorfinn been through to change like he did and much less convince Canute to literally give up on his goal he had in his mind with just a few words. I really like character development in anime, but this one was kinda exagerated. Anyways, it's just my opinion.

Also, probably a good thing you "didn't put effort into this reaction," cuz the tears were bound to come

When he said he'd run, it gave me goosebumps cuz he just told Leif how, now, he feels proud that their ancestors chose to run to Iceland instead of fight. Too good!!

Dude, Canute definitely has a soft spot for Thorfinn. In the first season, when Canute was super shy, Thorfinn was the only one who could get him talking and drive him crazy.
Now that Canute has become this ruthless, cold, calculating king, Thorfinn is still the only one who can make him laugh like a kid. 🤣🤣 🤣 Love the relationship between these two

I think the biggest reason as to why Vinland Saga hasn't gained as much popularity as other series is that the first season was only available on Amazon Prime for the 3-4 years until season 2 released, so it was hard for it to gain hype from anime fans who could then hype it up for non-anime viewers. Imagine if AoT had had such a limited release from the first season through the 3-4 years until its second season. I think it would've otherwise been a pretty big crossover series for non-anime viewers. I don't know if it would've been as immediately big as One Punch Man or Demon Slayer, but it definitely would've been bigger. The first season quickly made it my second favorite anime after AoT and I'm someone who liked some anime, but was really annoyed and turned off by a lot of very common anime tropes which I felt those two series avoided.
