A No-Nut Project
Added 2021-11-29 23:36:19 +0000 UTCHi everyone,
Just an update on what I'm up-to and a question about support. I was hoping to get four posts this month, including one for No-Nut November. Unfortunately, I was having trouble with the morph that was crashing my computer. That being said, I thought I could try to salvage the situation by using it for a new experiment that I've been thinking about where I use a morph as a reference point for some animation work.
Now, I'm still figuring out my strategy of tackling this project but regardless of whether its vector, rotoscoping, or painted it's going to be a fairly large project. I was hoping to figure out a reasonable number of posts to cover the commitment to this kind of animation.
The way I see it, there's three possibilities that I can think of and so let me know what you think. The final decision is up to me and being responsible for the patreon's direction of course but this lets me figure out everyone's feelings about how I should handle these more extended-projects. I'm slowly working my way to longer projects like a visual novel or a game, so figuring out what sort of patterns of support I can depend on will be important.
Read to the end for my thoughts of why these options might be right for me (and you!)
I'm also adding a really rough storyboard as I try to figure out all the elements I'll be needing. Give you all a look at what this might be at the end. Let me know what you think of it as well :)

The longer gist of the options as I'd explain them is:
Simply splitting the project up into multiple paid posts is the most straightforward path, of which I've done so in the past for longer and more complex morphs. This lets me keep flexible for different sized projects and assumes you all trust me for accurately portraying the levels of effort invested in different projects.
Tier-separating these projects would be good for patreons trying to manage what they are supporting me for. Membership could be more defined as people who really just want to support my shorter 5-10 second morph animations and then a tier for those who are excited to see me tackling more ambitious projects.
A Patreon Goal is a bit of kicking the tin-can down the street to just having a bigger audience to give me a lot more wiggle-room to establish a pattern of "small small big" projects. Where my per-post income lets me effectively subsidize larger projects with more frequent posting of shorter morphs.
