I love how they blended both books to give a more nuanced version of the story. Also, notice how in the original fight scene, not a scratch on Lestat but with this addition to the story, he is also very hurt too. I'm not saying Lestat was right in all his actions but Louis wasn't guiltless in their fucked up dynamic.

No one is just going to expect someone they're intimate with, who claims they love them, to put them on trial for murder, and kill their daughter. Essentially 'lynch' them! Doesn't matter the red flags, it's betrayal, of course you're gonna feel betrayed... And Louis did not "run back to Lestat", where did you get that from. He literally punished all 3 of them, for 70+yrs and then STILL didn't go back to Lestat after that. He stayed alone, for as long as he needs to, to heal. And of course he's going to save Louis, not Claudia. First because Louis is his companion, and Claudia hated his guts. But because if he saved Claudia, he wouldn't have been able to save Louis or Madeleine, and they would've then killed Claudia anyways. So by saving Louis, he was at least able to truly save one of them. If he had "saved" Claudia, then he'd have just subjected her to be locked in a coffin, covered in rocks, having to feel both Madeleine and Louis' death, able to do absolutely nothing. Than she would have just slowly been left to starve to death. Why would you wish that on her. Dying, in her lovers arms is a mercy, compared to that horror. Why not talk about Armands hand in all of this?? Why is he getting a complete pass from you.

At the same time, this episode is one of the most amazing pieces of television I've seen in my lifetime. The finale is the cathartic counterpart to it, and it helps us look towards the future even when Claudia will ALWAYS be in the background, gone but never forgotten. Lestat's appearance here, despite his awful role (not yet completely opened up to us though) in this, is also one of my absolute favourites of this show yet. Next season is going. To. Be. One thing I loved about this episode was that it revealed how we don't actually know Lestat at all because Louis's, Armands's and Claudia's diaries are all mostly either biased/lying or have faulty memories (ex: when Louis couldn't remember if it was raining or not in S1 and how Lestat actually warned Louis about the Great Law right before he turned Claudia) so we get to see how Lestat saw things from his perspective. Also, keep in mind we've never actually MET Lestat, it's all a recollection of memories. After watching the finale (THE PLOTWIST OMG??) its so cool seeing little details that hint at what was actually happening the whole time. anyways, as much as I need your reaction to episode 8 since YESTERDAY, I do understand that this episode was so emotionally draining and you have shit to do so take your time queen, i'll be eagerly waiting !! xoxo

The only time Claudia had any semblance of a family was when she was first turned. Once Charlie died it was a wrap. It makes me so angry because all Lestat had to do was tell them about the laws, his powers and stop treating Louis and Claudia like his inferiors. Lestat could have helped Claudia navigate her desires or at least try to. My god those three would have been unstoppable!! Tragic loss!!

2025-01-23 19:19:53 +0000 UTCthe thesis of the first book is that passivity comes in many forms and harms as much as activity. i think the show did a great job of re-developing that thesis. they propose that passivity isn't necessarily just an unwillingness to do something but also the external confinements of race and an abusive partner - AND the internal rejections of self-truth. louis is impossible to figure out because he won't let himself figure out himself, he won't let others figure him out, and he is prevented from figuring himself out by external forces.
