[WOTD] Rachel redesign - Part 2: Presentation

This is the second post in Rachel's redesign process, where I’ll show you the new look of our rebellious girl!

As I mentioned in the first part, Rachel is an extremely playful and funny girl, with a style defined by her signature hair and punk aesthetic.

For this redesign, I aimed to keep her hair colors but enhance them, both in shades and the hairstyle itself. I also wanted to preserve her punk essence because Rachel is neither an emo nor a goth girl.

That punk personality must be reflected both in her appearance and her attitude. However, she may not be 100% punk, as people in the punk scene usually tend to adopt a more disheveled look, something we likely won’t see much in Rachel.

In the first part of the process, I showed you some references I used to get an initial idea for Rachel’s new design. For her face, I wanted her facial features to be "finer" and more feminine while also conveying kindness but with a touch of "rebellion and mischief."

As for her body, I based it on the “thicc girl” concept. Rachel will now be as or even more voluptuous, but there will be an important change in her personality, or rather, I’ll add a new layer or facet, which will be the antithesis of Asagi’s personality and habits.

That said, without further ado, I present to you the new Rachel!

Rachel Redesing

Here is a comparison between the new design and the old one.

An important addition to her appearance is the inclusion of two new tattoos, along with a "redesign" of her blue butterfly tattoo.

This tattoo holds a special meaning that hasn’t been revealed yet. Originally, I planned for it to be something discovered in Rachel’s route, but in the remake, it will probably become part of the canon, or at least something easier to understand at a key point in the base story.

As for the other two tattoos, one is a sort of subliminal message (which can’t be deciphered yet), and the other is purely aesthetic.

Also, it’s worth remembering that Shannon, one of Rachel’s friends, will now be a tattoo artist.

For Rachel’s redesign, I was also guided by the new designs of Shannon and Cassidy. The three now look much better together, whereas in the original designs, Rachel could feel somewhat out of place next to them.

Oh, and aside from the new tattoos, I also decided to add a belly button piercing. However, this piercing won’t be "permanent," meaning it’s removable. Rachel will be able to put it on or take it off as she pleases, so in some outfits or scenes, she might not have it, or she might even wear a different piercing.

Her hands now look more feminine, and I decided to lengthen her nails, as I did with Jill and Yuri.

I love how Rachel looks alongside the other main girls!

I think she contrasts better now in terms of appearance, even without needing “edgy” accessories or a disheveled uniform. In the remake, they’ll all be good friends as the story and events progress, but the idea was always for Rachel to be the "black sheep" of the group, both in terms of personality and appearance. Even so, Rachel will have things in common with each of them, aside from the love she may feel for Clyde.

And speaking of Clyde, here is another comparison.

Regarding her personality, as you may recall, Rachel can be impulsive, irresponsible, and sometimes a bit clumsy with her studies or general knowledge. What stands out the most about her is her playful, outgoing, and shameless personality.

In the remake, I plan to take her humor to the next level. Rachel will have no limits in her sense of humor, making fun of anything or anyone, including Clyde and herself. She might even break the fourth wall or make jokes directed at the player. That said, this doesn’t mean Rachel will be like this 100% of the time.

There are plans for a deeper development of her personality, where she will go through difficult moments or overcome challenges, leaning on Clyde or one of her new friends for support. I plan to keep her initial rivalry with Jill, although it will eventually be resolved as the story progresses. With the inclusion of new secondary characters like Kaede, I also have the chance to create new discussions or conflicts among the girls.

I'll be working on Rachel's outfits now, maybe I'll even make some alternative school uniforms, as I'm not so convinced right now that I should keep that idea, I might do a poll about it!

Este es el segundo post del proceso de rediseño de Rachel, donde les mostraré el nuevo diseño de nuestra chica rebelde!

Como mencioné en la primera parte, Rachel es una chica sumamente bromista y graciosa, con un estilo definido por su característico cabello y su estética punk.

Para este rediseño, he buscado mantener los colores de su cabello, pero embelleciéndolos, tanto en las tonalidades como en el propio estilo del peinado. También quiero conservar su esencia punk, ya que Rachel no es una chica emo ni gótica.

Esa personalidad punk debe reflejarse tanto en su aspecto como en su actitud. Eso sí, tal vez no sea 100% punk, ya que en el mundo punk las personas suelen optar por una estética más desaliñada, algo que probablemente no veremos mucho en Rachel.

En la primera parte del proceso, les mostré algunas referencias que utilicé para tener una idea inicial del nuevo diseño de Rachel. Para su rostro, quería que sus rasgos faciales fueran más "finos" y femeninos, al mismo tiempo que su expresión transmitiera amabilidad, pero también un toque de "rebeldía y picardía".

En cuanto a su cuerpo, me basé en el concepto de "chica thicc". Rachel será ahora igual o más voluptuosa, pero habrá un cambio importante en su personalidad, o mejor dicho, incluiré una nueva capa o faceta, que será una antítesis de la personalidad y costumbres de Asagi.

Dicho esto, sin más preámbulos, ¡les presento a la nueva Rachel!

Rediseño de Rachel

Aquí hay una comparación entre el nuevo diseño y el antiguo.

Un añadido importante respecto a su apariencia es la inclusión de dos nuevos tatuajes, además de haber "rediseñado" su tatuaje de la mariposa azul.

Este tatuaje tiene un significado especial que aún no se ha revelado. Originalmente, tenía planeado que fuera algo que se descubriera en la ruta de Rachel, pero en el remake probablemente se convierta en parte del canon, o al menos algo más fácil de entender en un punto clave de la historia base.

Respecto a los otros dos tatuajes, uno es una especie de mensaje subliminal (que por ahora no se puede descifrar), y el otro es meramente estético.

Además, hay que recordar que Shannon, una de las amigas de Rachel, ahora será tatuadora.

Para el rediseño de Rachel, también me guié por los nuevos diseños de Shannon y Cassidy. Las tres ahora se ven mucho mejor juntas, mientras que, en los diseños originales, Rachel podía sentirse algo fuera de lugar junto a ellas.

Ah, y además de los nuevos tatuajes, también decidí añadirle un piercing en el ombligo. Aunque dicho piercing no será "permanente", es decir, es removible. Rachel podrá ponérselo y quitárselo a gusto, por lo que en algunos outfits o escenas puede que no lo tenga, o incluso que lleve un piercing diferente.

Sus manos ahora se ven más femeninas, y decidí alargar sus uñas, como hice con Jill y Yuri.

¡Adoro cómo se ve Rachel junto a las demás chicas principales!

Creo que ahora contrasta mejor en cuanto a apariencia, incluso sin necesidad de usar accesorios “rudos” o tener un uniforme desaliñado. En el remake, todas serán buenas amigas a medida que avance la historia y los eventos, pero la idea siempre fue que Rachel sea "la oveja negra" del grupo, en lo que respecta a personalidad y apariencia. Aun así, Rachel tendrá puntos en común con cada una de ellas, además del amor que pueda sentir por Clyde.

Y hablando de Clyde, aquí hay otra comparación.

En cuanto a su personalidad, como recordarán, Rachel puede ser impulsiva, irresponsable y, a veces, un poco torpe en los estudios o en cuestiones de conocimiento general. Lo que más destaca de ella es su personalidad bromista, extrovertida y desvergonzada.

En el remake, planeo llevar su humor a un nivel más elevado. Rachel no tendrá límites en su sentido del humor, burlándose de cualquier cosa o persona, incluidos Clyde y ella misma. Incluso podría llegar a romper la cuarta pared o hacer chistes dirigidos al jugador. Eso sí, esto no significa que Rachel será así el 100% del tiempo.

Hay planes para un desarrollo profundo de su personalidad, donde pasará por momentos difíciles o de superación, apoyándose en Clyde o en alguna de sus nuevas amigas. Planeo mantener su rivalidad inicial con Jill, aunque eventualmente se resolverá en el transcurso de la historia. Con la inclusión de nuevos personajes secundarios, como Kaede, también tengo la oportunidad de crear nuevas discusiones o conflictos entre las chicas.

Ahora estaré trabajando en los outfits de Rachel, tal vez incluso pueda hacer algunos uniformes escolares alternativos, ya que ahora no estoy tan convencido de que si debería conservar esa idea, puede que haga una encuesta al respecto!
