Big Patreon Changes in September
Added 2021-07-25 12:35:21 +0000 UTCThese are big decisions long coming, but with how things are, I have to make them, as disheartening as they are.
What's the Big Change?
As of September this year, I will no longer be doing high-tier commissions via Patreon. I wanted to make sure you all got a good amount of advanced warning, so that this didn't come too suddenly.
That's not to say I'm not doing high-quality commissions at all, just that they'll be done on my own terms outside of Patreon and advertised through FurAffinity and Twitter. So if you do follow me elsewhere and still want a commission, look out for "Commissions Open" posts and the like.
I have several reasons for this:
- First, the truth is, I can't keep up with monthly big commissions, on top of other projects. There's a backlog of art which I owe folks, and kept hoping I'd be able to catch up. I never have. Given that you are paying good money for this service, I don't think it's fair to just let it pile up month after month. You guys deserve better, and ultimately this will give me a chance to finally finish what I owe.
- Secondly , it means more $2, $5 and $10 rewards, along with more polls, which have needed to be done with greater frequency for ages now. The plan was to do 4+ $10 pieces per month, and a poll every week, but that has not worked out as well as I'd hoped. With this change, though, I can finally rectify things.
- Finally, I have also got a lot of personal projects brewing in the background I've wanted to do for a long time, but never really got the chance because I felt the need to prioritise paid commissions over my own stuff. So, as a result of this change coming in a couple of months' time, you'll finally see some of those stories and comics which I've built up over time, like The Dragon's Foolish Quest which I teased earlier this month, along with some lore mini-series', which I have scripts at the ready.
So what's staying?
Sketch and coloured sketch tiers will continue.
However they will both be going up in price as of September to $20 and $25 respectively. At the advice of some fellow art friends, I looked into how long it took me to make these vs how much I was charging, and I was way undercharging for how much time these take to make on average. I was basically working several dollars below minumum wage, so I am regrettably upping those prices despite my wishes not to.
Anything new?
Well, yes!
During September, I will be experimenting with long-form storytelling with comic pages, dictated by Patreon votes. Think of it as "choose your own adventure" by popular demand. I know it's not a new concept, but it's something I've not done before and it's a really interesting thing to experiment with. You'll get to choose destinations, fates, personality quirks and even what kinky things will or won't happen to folks, depending on the story.
I'd also love to hear what you guys would like from this page. The more input I get in terms of ideas and directions to take, the better this page will ultimately become. So please feel free to comment and share :D
Thank you all so much for your support, and I wish you all the best.
- Daniel Sharpe.

I'm sure this adjustment will help your creative flow so you have time to think of scenarios that pique your interest, rather than pushing yourself to meet a deadline. It's important to rest. I don't have any suggestions as far as what else to do with your patreon, as it's just been nice to see sizeplay in my inbox regularly. I hope this adjustment is fulfilling for you.
